Hey, I only posted the question, I think Grants trying to get me into trouble here, don't take any notice of him Sjors, I'm sure it will look fine. :D
I would take notice of the nice people like me.
Sjors, I joined.
Toys arrived this morning, I haven't opened the box yet as I still have some work to do in the loft, but soon.

It's also the order in which they go over the masthead Sjors, with the forward ones being the lowest (having gone on first). We'd probably let you get away with it, but I'm sure Mobbsie will invite himself over and rip them off if you don't do it right!

If the shrouds are to align the mast, the ones at the front are key to lateral (left/right) alignment and to limiting the rake of the mast aft.

Sjors, there is NO paint anywhere? Do I need new glasses? maybe a new memory and re-read your log? I could swear there is some paint on the build in the background. I am going to go contemplate my for life for a while........

@ Augie,
The first ratline goes at the top to get the shrouds tight......
Then I go from bottom to top !
This answers your question ?
@ Popeye,
They have teach me at school, take the way what works for you the best........
So I'll be doing that !
It's just the same when I'm driving my bus, if there is an obstacle on the left side of the road, I'll take the right side
I hope I can finish the lower shrouds tomorrow so after that it's ratline time again.....
Aggy is a bit bigger, not much but when she have her masts you can see the difference.
I can recommend a bigger one Popeye,
It's really fun to work with it !!!!!!
@ Wayne ,
Thanks
Just read the answer that I wrote to Popeye and you know when the ratlines are coming !

Hi Guys,
Thank you all for your very kind congrats and comments, they really are appreciated. I would like to reiterate that this is really a very small museum, I would say that in most cases it would probably fit into a double garage. I think they would have accepted a picture in a glass case to be honest.
Mort, Matti, The museum doesn't open until the 1st May, I will get some pics then and post up.
I'm afraid a Knighthood is a little way off just yet, I'm more like a surf or squire which is a Knights servant, very lowly.
I apologise for not posting my latest pics sooner but I have been a little distracted, were still in the process of refurbing the kitchen and I have had a side project going on as well. I am getting a few new toys from Proxxon and was in dire need of some extra space. My admiral (Christine) has allowed me to make space in the loft to house them, so I have been clearing the loft and fitting a work bench, fitting the bench wasn't a problem but boy do we ever hoard a load of rubbish.
Jerry, I hope the following pictures help you to work out the spacing for your snaking, the method I used was to start the first knot with a clove hitch, from then on I took a short piece of thread and tying a simple overhand knot around the Preventer Stay ensuring the snake line was inside the loop pulled tight at the desired spacing, using the gauge which I had made, on completion and being satisfied that the spacing was even and that there was no distortion I just put a minute spot of glue on the knot and when dry trimmed of the loose ends. Hope that helps mate.
Some progress pics
Main Stay, Gauge is attached to the stays
Loose ends still need to be trimmed off
All trimmed and finished
Trying to get the tension right on the Crowsfeet so the stays are not distorted
Completed Crowsfeet, I found it extremely difficult to eliminate distortion on the stays, this is the best I could manage.
So that's it for now I'm afraid, progress has been slow and I'm currently working on the fore topmast and top gallant
I thank you again for your very kind words
Be Good

I must agree with Popeye - very nice set of photos. The Fonz is looking sharp, and your Aggie, well, I've heard her described as being like planking a big barn. Nicely done!
Now - more shrouds, more fiddly bits and then the part we have all been waiting for - rat lines!!!!!

Grant,
When I look behind me . I just see her lovely face and smile when she is busy on her I pad.......
It counts that we can see each other even when we are doing our own thing .......
Just being together is enough !
But it is monday, she is working at her notebook in the kitchen doing some work and I go upstairs doing my work....at the Fonz.

I really don't think it matters much.......it would just make it easier for you to do. your something of a trekie Sjors......boldly going where no one has gone before. you've done so many ratlines, you probably can do them in your sleep however you do it Sjors, your doing great!. Fonzie looks super.......such a beauty! Aggie looks to be a bit larger........or perhaps that just my eyes playing tricks. fabulous progress Sjors........your a big tease! one of these days I'll get me one of these 'big boy toys' and I can have fun like you!
I'll bet your even going to do the ratline rungs from top to bottom, just amaze us even more! thank you for the pictures......you've appeased my sweet tooth!

you've heard of a skeleton crew, well when it came time to placing the figures, I realized I
didn't have a figure for the tiller , so I made a wire skeleton fig.to fill in. Next time I go to Michaels
I'll get some clay and try my luck at making a figure.
That's it, I have a couple more different shots that I'll add in the gallery. Thanks for look'n in.

trippwj reacted to gjdale in HMS Victory by gjdale - FINISHED - Mamoli - Scale 1:90
Well, I managed to finish off the Mizzen yards as planned today. I've attached a few pics to give the overall impression, but I'm afraid the photographer is not very good! I tried placing a large cutting mat as the background so that the lighter running rigging could be seen instead of disappearing into the white wall behind.
Here they are anyway;
Okay, next up Driver Boom and Gaff. That may have to wait a little while as we're off to Sydney again next weekend ...... although I've been promised another visit to Carbatec where I've got my eye on a 10" bandsaw..........

trippwj reacted to gjdale in HMS Victory by gjdale - FINISHED - Mamoli - Scale 1:90
I've been out of the shipyard for a couple of weeks as we've been back and forth to Sydney quite a bit for family matters. On the plus side, on our last trip up there, I was allowed to visit my favourite toy store - Carbatec, and was also allowed to purchase some dust collection equipment. (I figured that as I now owned a serious assortment of dust-making machinery, it was time to do something serious about dust collection). In return for my wife's indulgence of my hobby, I took her across the road for a romantic dinner for two at IKEA. (Mind you, there's method in her madness. I think that visit to IKEA is about to cost some serious $$$).
We gave ourselves the weekend off this weekend, so I was at last able to get back to the shipyard. After fixing a couple of errors I just noticed from my last efforts on the rigging, I did manage to finish the Main yards to the same state as the Fore yards (minus errors). Tomorrow should see me achieve the same on the Mizzen yards, and then it's on to the Driver Boom and Gaff. After that, Sheets, Tacks and Braces, and Bowlines, and I'm just about there. Oh - there is still the small matter of another boat or few.....
Pics tomorrow.

I'm afraid not Lawrence. The Admiral only gets involved with funding approval for "essential" equipment. She won't get her hands dirty in the shipyard - too much bad language coming from there for her taste!

Thank you Augie !
Wayne is not reading what I'm writing !
I'm gonna start tomorrow again and that don't mean that everything is already finished !
Don't forget I have only my rigging Gnomes and not the rigging spiders from Augie !
I have only make a few blocks at the foremast.
For me it is also sunday......
That means that i can do what ever I want.
And now I'm in the neighbourhood of Anja
During the week we don't see each other much so ......

Hi guys,
Here are some pics of the upper masts and most of the stays on. She wasn't a lofty ship as launched. The Brits added more when they took delivery, McKay gave her an extra wide rig instead, with the main yard being 95 feet long. I feel that he wanted to get power this way, maybe to minimize heeling as she was a passenger ship. Any of your views on this would be interesting.
