Hey Brian , I used my home made planking pins to hold the planks down while the glue dried. Used just a little pressure to bend the planks in place while I glued and pinned them down. You can see them on page 3 pics.

Hey there jerry I'm using some Lego gears I purchased on eBay, and regular thread to go around the top of rope which goes around the mast head . The gears are 40 tooth gears.

No problem on downloading pics jerry. I wish I had some decent pics of the rigging on this build I could download for myself, having a little difficulty following the rigging instructions provided in the kit. Might take me some time to sort it out before I start. They are spread out over many pages and I'm kind of slow in understanding lately.

I do hope this build log helps though cause I have no clear references to refer to. Im learning as i go also. Thanks A.J.

Like that whale rendering station on the ship. Some photos are missing in the build log but the ship looks great.

You may be able to cut out the bad areas and place and blend in some more wood.

I like my ship builds a lot but I like my cat more. She has kept me company throughout all my builds. Even when she distroyed one of my builds by pulling it down off of a shelf playing with the sprit sail. I had to use pliers to pull the bow sprit out of the carpet , it would have gone right through the cat if she had not moved quickly.

It's their courious nature and nothing personal. More time to spend on our ships.

I have ordered some gears online and am waiting to make a serving machine so I can complete the shrouds.  I've never used one but can see the advantage in it for making shrouds look better. mean while I'm just working on other areas till then.

yes I did donate most of the ships , these are some old photos I found on my other older computer of previous builds.  I  have kept my Wasa model and my Mantua Caroline which is a Remote control build and my latest Niagara

hey brian , my second and third builds were intermediate level kits by mamoli, not too expensive and not too large either.  I chose the golden hind and rattlesnake just for the practice I needed for advance level kits like the wasa by corel. I really needed the practice too. here are the actual builds in the pics.

my third build the rattlesnake I chose to practice using different wood and scratched built some parts in wood which were cast in metal.  I really spent a lot of time bashing that kit , just for fun.

after that I practiced on Artesania Sanfransico II, Santa Maria, Mamoli HMS Beagle, and the corel Half Moon all intermediate level

you can try the half moon by corel its an easy build also , not too large. 

as far as kits go today I choose them on the quality of the wood supplied.  I think corel, mantua, constructo and artesania have some nice wood and better castings than mamoli. After so many builds I also try to choose smaller builds no larger than 28  to 30 inches long.

Yes you can always add a little curve with extra wood to the top if you want . I did make a very slight curve. I'm done with the wood working on my build and there is so much wood left over more than half provided in the kit. Keep adding and taking away wood from that area till it's the way you like it.

Scott , this kit has been quite the challenge, model shipways has definitly achieved that. I've not been disappointed in their kits.

We'll Brian I can only do so much to fix any missing pic on my end, admin at MSW will have to tend to the rest. At least we did not lose it all again. I did not make backups for my builds on the old web site that crashed.
