hi kenr ,   I can see me trying to mount this built on a base with all the mast in place, I would snap one off for sure. This way works best for me.

I've decided to place one carronade a day on the build so I can work on others areas.  I doubt I'll be finished with the build in 18 days. 

it gets monotonous and strains my eyes.

now to shaping the bowsprit

the first carronade with four sets of tackle, I'll only use two

that sucks bad, I know how you feel, my cat left one of my builds lying in a heap.  what is it with model ship builders and cats anyway?  the two don't seem to go well together.

a look at the deck furnishings,  these will not be placed on the build until the carronades are fixed to the deck.

Mounted the build on a temporary base till I can find a nicer hard wood base I can stain or clear, added chock rail, cleats, and capstan bars

gluing the main rail,   the lazer cut tafrail is a bit short, will have to fill in the gaps with some of the wood from the lazer cut patterns.

all the gaps and nail holes will be filled in with wood filler.

Hey there davegrady, I have a few ship builds under my belt  and I have found this kit a bit challenging, I would not recommend it for a first or even second build.  I have built the bluenose2 and know the rigging well,  this Niagara kit has much smaller pieces and is much more accurate to detail.  Rigging will take just as long to complete as the hull has.

placed the rudder on,  I almost went blind trying to attach the eye bolt to the chains, 

used a nail from kit and soldered it into each ,

I used the brass strip in kit, pressed an indention in it and drilled the holes

I'll let the paint cure for 24 hours and lightly sand and use a satin clear over the black  and green paints.  just on the area below the gun ports to the keel. and the transom
