Thanks so much Nils, I have some of your techniques in my mind that I hope to use on this build. Your Pegasus is completely amazing and I will be referring to it lots during this build.

This is the start of my Pegasus log which I have been putting off for far too long and decided I would get it going. When I started this hobby a little over a year ago I seen a picture of the Amati Pegasus and instantly wanted her, however, for once in my life I held off starting her as I knew my skill level was not there yet. I feel now if I take my time and with the help available here at MSW I should be able to stumble through and do a fairly good job.
I know this is a bold step starting this kit as there is some excellent ones on the go now, Blue Ensign and Landlubber Mike  are just two examples of some of the skilled craftsmen here at MSW. Although I do not plan on following in their footsteps, I mean who could, I do plan on making some changes mostly to the kit wood and possibly a few other features(cannons, rigging line etc.).
I did not include pictures of the contents but if anyone is interested in seeing the contents of this great kit just say so and I will be more than happy to add them.
Enough of an introduction, it is my hope that I do this girl justice and maybe someday be allowed into that elite Pegasus/fly fraternity.

To date I have fitted the bulkheads and transom supports. All went together good and there was very little adjustment required. I am impressed with the mdf so far and do not see any problems arising in the future from it, it is defiantly quite a bit denser  than the stuff found in the local lumberyard and should out shine the normal plywood that is typically used.
The one picture shows the plywood forecastle deck in place, it is not glued down that was just me playing around. In the past year I have had this kit the box has been opened and closed no less than 30-40 times and this piece keeps falling out. So I just put in in place for safe keeping .

donrobinson got a reaction from popeye the sailor in Trabakul by donrobinson - FINISHED - MarisStella - 1:32 scale
This the start of my next build the “Trabakul” by Marisstella:

First up I would like to thank Marisstella, especially Zoran, not only for this great kit but also for the fantastic service and patience of putting up with my endless questions some of which were not that bright. That being said two of the concerns I had were the instructions and the shipping from Croatia and to that Zoran e-mailed me the plans and instructions. They looked real good with lots of pictures showing pretty much everything one would need, then to top it off the shipping was free ( not sure if this offer is still on you will have to check with Zoran) so I went for it putting my other kits back a little further on the list.

    Time to Start:

Upon opening the box I was first impressed by the amount material it contained. This is a single planked hull, my first, so I guess I was expecting a lot less wood. I’m thinking maybe they know my skills with wood and just sent lots of extra as a way of me not bothering them anymore   . I went through all the packages and billets and everything looks excellent, one thing that did stand out is the fine laser cuts in the billets much finer than I have seen.
The strip wood all looks real nice and of good quality even the dowels are straight (a real bonus!!).
Reading the instruction book and going over the plans there is some challenges ahead, one being the interior which is completely finished (another first for me).
My plan is not to bash this kit what so ever and just build as is, now I said this is the plan not a promise  .

Here is the box and contents:

all pieces sanded and dry fitted. a little tough getting pieces out of billet but nothing unmanageable

a glass kitchen table is indispensable for this hobby, everything so far has gone well. Lots of charring but easily sanded

More to come, seem to have misplaced some pictures

I will admit there is some terrible wood in that kit and it is sad to see that type of quality. The sails, however, are correct. The plans are showing the sails before being sewn and bolt ropes being added, AL has supplied the sails pre-sewn and ready to be installed.

Having just recently getting a Cutty Sark, in full sail, tattoo on my leg I would highly recommend having those sails furled.

I like your idea of offering a "spiling package" as an option. Hopefully Zoran sees this and gives it some thought. Looking at their website I see they offer some walnut boards but I could not see any 1.5 mm walnut boards. Knowing Zoran, and his great service, I'm sure if one was to contact him he would be more than happy to help out and put a package together.
I have ordered the DRO for my mill and lathe

So happy to see an update.
The yellow cedar is a beautiful addition. I had a little bit of a laugh with your comment about bending the wale planks, not easy but you found a way of accomplishing it. Good stuff. She is looking good and you are doing a super job.
I'll be looking forward to your next update.

The epic kit.......that's easy. For me it was Amati's Pegasus then it was Amati's Revenge then it was MarisStella's Trabaccolo then it was MarisStella's Barque Stefano.......................and the list goes on. The first rule in this hobby is "Thou shalt hoard kits" second rule "if you like it buy it"

I'm not sure what sort of access you have to the hold, but I do know you are busy making hammocks. You could try making some sand bags that could be put(glued) inside to act as a ballast. And I really want to see some pictures of it at work!!!!!!

Planking it will look real sharp. What type of wood are you thinking about? Tires are a sweet idea and would look so cool. I would still sand to get it smooth just be a little cautious, it would be about the same as sanding the second layer of planking on a hull

She is quite the tug Mike, I'd enjoy seeing her run around the lake too. If are thinking about planking Titebond III is completely waterproof and would be much easier to use.
