I think you're english is very good Ferit... a little mistake here and there but so what, everybody makes mistakes and I think what you intend to say is easy to understand ... I can only imagine how bad I would sound if I had to speak your native tongue.

Ferit got a reaction from Sjors in Frigate Berlin by Ferit KUTLU - Corel - 1/40 - 1674
One month ago I had written in a member's log the word "terrible" instead of "terrific"... I had thought that I had said a good thing... What a shame for me!... And you had corrected me... Thank you twice Kevin...

good afternoon everyone
Progress - i actualy managed some build today
Rudder
as discussed in my last post i have not coppered the leading edge of the rudder or the trailing edge of the sternpost, but i have removed the hinges as they were getting in the way
i have inserted 3 pins to strengthen the structure when it is finally fixed, should prevent any potential knock off

Ferit got a reaction from md1400cs in Charles W Morgan Whaleboat by Salty Sea Dog - Artesania Latina - Scale 1:25 - POF - first wooden boat build - SMALL
Hi Buck,
Could you tell me; this Optivisor, how many diopters has it?
And could you build a new Morgan's Whaleboat (2nd build) of which the lenght will be as equal as the lenght of your scratch tap?!

Ahoy Ferit
Looking at your pictures and not ever having silver soldered any deadeye hardware I would think that you could close the "gap" as you have it named in your pic without the wooden deadeye installed. Provided you were neat with the solder and did not attach the two linear sections you would then be able to place a wedge between the linear parts, opening the circle just enough to then insert the deadeye. Once the wedge is removed it should secure the deadeye
This being said I really think what you have done will work just fine. Maybe I will try this on my Berlin build. This after I finish my current build which as we both know will be some time from now.
PS: She looks great

Hi Ferit,
No i posted that message yesterday morning before i had a chance to remove her from storage. Now I'm revisiting all of the research I did on her 10 years ago and formulating an approach to restart this build

Randy, I have just realized that the problem is to burn the deadeye with fire. Excuse me because of my inattentiveness.
In my kit supply if to glue the deadeye remains stable, your scratch would be more stable with CA and more easy and more speedy...

Thanks for the tip Ferit. I tried a few prototypes and found bending the wire and trying to connect at the deadeye was impossible so I changed the junction point further down to the bottom. I'll have to solder but at least I shouldn't light my wooden deadeyes on fire.
No matter what tho it will be better than the wire stuff from AL... I hope

Ferit reacted to Barbossa in HMS Diana By Barbossa - Caldercraft - Scale 1:64 - The 1794 Attempt
Hi people,
at last an update ( it was about time) but referring to previous posts, life was getting a bit in the way of shipbuilding. First an apology and a warm greet to Timothy : usually, I always respond to replies on my posts but unfortunately I oversaw yours.
Aside I’d like to dedicate this post to Ray : your Diana is going to be a superb model as well as you buildlog is and I wish I could explain all those different building episodes to all members as good as you do.
Anyway : back to topic and here’s some points of interest regarding the actual status :
The rope coils : I know, they are to be secured alongside the gun carriages but I as I put some effort in this detail, I wanted it to be visible The barricade assembly : instead of square supports, I preferred round ones For Ray : The bulwark pin rails, especially part 77, I had to shorten it and sacrifice one hole, otherwise it was not possible to insert it between the guns. Also, please mind about the emplacement of the eyebolts that are to receive the blocks for the gun carriages. If you are to fix the bulwark pin rail, there’s not that much space left in the “open bulwark” version. The ships wheel : I preferred a brown color instead of painting this part in white Regarding the last pic : it is puzzling my mind since a long time but what about adding a small blue strip to both curved rails (upper and lower) on the bow section . Someone any thoughts or ideas on this ? to be continuated (more pics)

Ferit reacted to Barbossa in HMS Diana By Barbossa - Caldercraft - Scale 1:64 - The 1794 Attempt
Hi Jasseij,
You know the story : lots of "parlé" and in the end the captain decides ( that will be mrs. Barbossa )
Anyway, think positive : the sooner you have this kind of debate, the sooner you ( we ) can resume shipbuilding
Hi Mort and David I really appreciate your kind words
Here's the update regarding the bow section and in addition : to lamp or not to lamp ? It is still dry fit but I like it.
The blue strips weree made of paper that was overpainted with blue gloss ( humbrol n°14) I believe something similar needs to be done on the catheads.
And regarding the lamp , I'm planning to fix it with some extra supports on both sides (painted in black)

Hello dear friends,
Today I will show you the comparison of my model caronade with the photo of an original French Carronade of 1840.
I think that there are many similarities.

i like the white shrouds - are you going to contrast the ratlines in black - or keep it all the same colour?
all the best

Hi Ferit,
It's such a joy to watch your Berlin taking shape.
Are you familiar with silver soldering? I'm not yet to the point where I've done any myself, but I've read here of instances where unsoldered rings and such may open up under the tension of the rigging, allowing it to sag. The wrapping and gluing might be adequate, but it's something to consider. There is a silver soldering tutorial in the article downloads section.
Cheers,
Brian

Very nice Ferit... as usual
I like your chainplates a lot and am in need of creating some and yours are an excellent example of what I want... I intend to make them of 20 gauge copper and blacken... hope you don't mind if I copy your design... I also like the top threading under the deadeye, gives a nice finished look.... might do that as well.
You've inspired me to do better and i thank you for that

Thanks Ferit - I almost visited your beautiful city on our honeymoon back in 2011. Scale is questionable - on the plans it says 1/50 but I believe it shares fittings and cannons with The Berlin which is listed as 1/40 as is the WVH on most sites.

A quick update. The main course clews, sheets and tacks are in. So the mainmast is DONE and we now move forward to the fore courses.
A little shaky on this next shot but you get the idea ----
