Yes, I do believe it will be perfect. I think the I Love Kit version is the old Merit version which went out of production. I see that I love Kit also picked up the Merit USS Hornet as well. That was another Merit kit.

Our 16 year old grand daughter did those hand prints when she was 2. My wife paints around them and will not cover them up. I am not familiar with the I Love Kit Mikasa. Will look to see if I can tell. I think it should work.

Took some time to get another funnel top done this morning. meanwhile the Admiral was touching up paint on a different scale. I better get back to work if I know what’s good for me.

I often wondered what kind of maintenance was needed on the inside of a funnel that required walkways at the top of it. Like maybe chimney sweeping of sorts?

No one will ever notice it as they are riding past on a galloping horse.

The good thing is, the final appearance of the effect is primarily achieved with your preferred hobby brush and the white spirits used to achieve it. Watch as many tutorial videos on it as you can to pick up many valuable hints.

The upgrade set offers two options for the tops of each funnel. One is a flat two dimensional piece seen to the right of my funnel, and the second option is the ant- leg sized three dimensional multi piece unit seen on top of my funnel. Makes me feel they are laughing at those who are foolish enough to try the multi piece unit. I am not completely happy with me feeble effort to finish this assembly but I refused to give in to the easy way out. 😊

Been going nuts this weekend with home remodeling. Started stripping everything out of our bedroom this past Friday. Removed the old flooring, stripped off the baseboards. Then did a little drywall work and repainted, had a tile man come out today and laid new ceramic tile. Will grout tomorrow then put in new baseboards Wednesday. Hopefully will get everything moved back inside the room before July 4. This real life stuff is getting in the way of modeling time!

I love the WW2 Russian fighters. For whatever reasons, I never recall seeing many photos or reading about Russian WW2 aircraft until more recent times. Growing up in the 50's and 60's, all we ever saw were American, British, Japanese, and German aircraft. Never French, Italian, Russian, Polish, etc.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
