  1. I’ve read where modelers use stretched sprue for rigging. Cheap and it attaches with ease. Getting consistent diameter stretched sprue would take some practice and patience. All plastic sprue is not created equal when it comes to heating and stretching it. Been there and done that with mixed results but have never tried to do enough of it for an entire model ship.
  2. That is drop dead gorgeous. Beautiful model Chris. Halinski rocks.
  3. Thanks Jack My cell phone still has a charge. 😀
  4. I’m not ignoring you Jack, early this morning a transformer down the street blew up and we have been without power since then. The power company says it will be restored by the end of the day so I will take some photos when the power comes back up. I really don’t feel like starting the generator and touting all the extension cords unless I have to.
  5. You really did something special with this Mike. A model to be admired and proudly displayed. Looks like the real thing.
  6. For the time being I am a spectator looking forward to your model. With your attention to details I am sure it’s going to be spectacular
  7. Great subject and glad you’re doing it. Cataract surgery was a breeze for me and wow, did it make things better. Hope you get even better results if that’s even possible.
  8. Finished Final photos Thanks for following along, your likes, and your comments. See you again soon.
  9. I always enjoyed looking up when Tampa had them in our sky daily from MacDill AFB in the '60's MACDILL AFB FL USA F4 PHANTOMS Photo Gallery by Paul Newman at pbase.com
  10. This will be another exciting chapter to follow. Soon? Never seen one of these before now.
  11. I don’t think you overdid it at all, looks spectacular. Very impressive model Jav.
  12. In my younger days before I settled down to spend more quality time building scale models. 😃
  13. My heart is racing at the prospect of a 1:200 Yamato
  14. Upon checking the contents of my storage building in the back yard, discovered a small leak in the roof developed over top of a couple of cardboard boxes full of models I had stored there. I removed the models from the boxes and put them in sunlight to dry the dampness some had. This 1:48 scale kit of the Israeli F-16i Sufa was one that was damp. The decal sheets are my only concern from the leak. Beyond that, the only online review I read on this kit claimed it is a dog of first order, that it does not fit together correctly. Once I finish the MRAP, zI will start this kit next, If I find the bad reports are erroneous, I will start a build thread on it. If it’s truly dog poo, I’ll save it for the spare parts bin.
  15. Is there a “go-to” glue for paper models?
  16. Son and grandson screening in our porch today. Old cast iron columns are gone now. They were over 60 years old.
  17. I thought this was a nice touch… With this kit, Ryefield includes one full sprue with fuel cans, tool boxes, ammo cans, a water cooler, a spare machine gun barrel, and more. No mention of the extra parts in the instructions, just items to be used as the modeler sees fit.
  18. Our monthly electric bill went from an average of $280 monthly to $450 monthly a few months ago. For many years our bill has been on an average use billing cycle, where we pay the same amount each month when in reality, the highest usage months in Florida are during the summer where air conditioning usage is heavy due to the extreme heat.
  19. I have to install all the glass, mud flaps, exhaust and muffler, a tow bar, some decals, and I am done after everything gets a dull coat.
  20. I cannot recall another 1:35 scale kit I’ve built with as detailed a .50 cal machine gun as this kit has straight out of the box. Ryefield knocked it right out of the park IMO.
  21. Wow, that canopy looks great from where I'm watching. Nice work, Chris. By the way, I received that Japanese Nieuport we discussed. Two pages of parts and one half sheet for frames.
  22. Amen. I heard that the death toll from the area where the storm made landfall is significant, not to mention the extraordinary property damage.
  23. My pile of tree debris from front yard. More in the back yard. Grandson helping me out.
  24. We made it through the storm just fine. Lots of limbs and tree debris scattered about the yard. I be picked up a lot of it at daylight and began piling it at the roadside. Debris removal contractors will pick it up in the coming days. For us, no flooding, no structural damage to the home. Minor damage here and there, Gazebo canvas top torn to tatters. It can easily be replaced. All those south of us did not fare as well. They will need time and help to get their lives back together.
