I was looking at the pdf's on getting flickering lights and the problem with getting the code for the program. anyone who wants to possibly do that may want to look at this site: http://www.cubloc.com/product/01_01cb220.php they have small chips that you can program with a version of basic and the cpu chips only cost about 30-40 usd. I have done programming in the past with some of the advanced chips and found it very easy to work with.

for a change of pace from the rigging on the bluenose I started the prep work on a bit of kit bashing. I am making the great cabin an actual cabin in the ship. so here is where I started to use the dremel tool to cut out some of the wood and then the dremel sander with 60 grid to get close to the final shape, for now I just got the center line clear.

i am getting ready / starting a build of the Fair American model shipways kit and was thinking of putting a few led lights in the great cabin. I am looking for parts and ideas on how to route the wires, batteries etc... this site has some good looking small led's that run off watch batteries. http://www.modeltrainsoftware.com/3v.html 3 volt small size http://www.modeltrainsoftware.com/ledlights1.html

some pictures to show some of where I am at now. Some details and overall how it's looking. also the detail picture on the foremast, I made the rings and hinge out of flat brass and a bit of brass wire as close as I could to the plans. for the smaller rings I used black construction paper in place of metal. but the larger rings are blackened brass.

it will be nice to see a different version of the model and see what's different or the same between the two.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
