So checking my references I need to add another ladder as well (only Sydney had an extra)

Whilst I’ve been awaiting putty and a primer coat to dry I did the funnel. The 3D print is from black Cat models, modern speakers and cameras

Yes, I actually had a ‘mule’ kit that had 2 sets of stabilisers included so I didn’t have to scratch build them.
-
The bilge keels have been cut down and and a stability fin added on both sides. I’m currently working on the transoms flap.

My concern is if China invaded Taiwan most of the kits will be shut down. For years. I have a few things planned. It’s good that have you back Cog
-
Hull joined up, luckily I read another build log and it says the kit comes with an extension piece (that of course is not in the instructions). The bilge keels are blocked up as they are different on modernised ships apparently

I’ve got about 4 builds planned this year, and this set is a really reasonable price as it comes with an excellent PE Set from Pontos. I have some other extras from Veteran models and aftermarket decals. there are a HEAP photos of a Sydney and this class of ship on Facebook as well as those who have served on her.

Mr Hobby Aluminium, actually needs polishing after the paint drys. I have lost a propeller (I swear it was kit in the kit). -

I must admit I find it overrated the amount of filling and sanding this requires. -

I needed a break. Opened the box and so few parts! No aftermarket For this one as it’ll be pretty crap but I need a cleanser. Luckily I bought up on Infini models sanding paper. I also seem to have lost a propeller! Just missing completely . -

The deck, dark grey base then two lighter shades to represent paint fade. Then a brown overspray to represent worn down to metal. I have a tan overspray on the wooden deck. My plan is to do some filters and some paint chips and washes. as you can see pretty much everything else is the paint cue, which will make it easy to finish.

The hull is a pain to fix at the waterline. I’ve scribed in the hull plates and I think I’ll grunge up the lower hull below the boot strap.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
