  1. So some aftermarket resin capstans (kit ones are atrocious on every single kit) some anchors chains and I can start moving aft.
  2. Lower hull, I oversprayed some primer so I could watch some panels in (as usual the lower hull is smooth), a boot strap sprayed in then the lower hull. I won’t weather this one as she only got a couple of years service before being scuttled.
  3. Skeleton of the ship done, couple of hundred portholes to drill out and city out the hangar space. the plan is now to work up the lower hull before I start on the PE
  4. Sorry, should have been clearer. The PE set has done very nice upgrades for the kit guns. The 3D printed stuff stands alone, but you can purchase them with or without blast bags (she had the in 1942 so o chose option 1.
  5. Probably the same problem I have as the shipping costs more. The PE for the guns is amazing too so I’ll trial it on the aft guns
  6. Yes he’s very good, I’m at the stage where it’s supercedes PE but it just becomes a very expensive exercise after a while.
  7. So arriving today from Micromaster in New Zealand, the main guns and 130mm waist guns. 3D printed art. They didn’t travel well but nothing is broken!!!
  8. Strasbourg in Toulon during July 1941. This is a series of photos taken on at least two occasions during the month. Initially a launch approaches the battleship, then another series of three photos depict the ship replenishing from trucks pierside. The last photos show her underway and headed out for a training exercise. Note the armistice-mandated neutrality stripe on Turret II. Another really great aspect of these photos is the detail shown of her stern catapult and Loire 130. Photos are from Bibliothèque historique de la Ville de Paris.
  9. Whilst I’m doing a log this can cover the upgrade kit and instructions as it’s fresh off the shelf in Hong Kong them a 2 month trip to Australia. it’s one of the few upgrades that do’nt need any extras.
  10. The kit is pretty standard fare, limited hull panel lines. the PE instructions are actually linear for the first time in history. Pretty much flyhawk quality. Not a beginner set but 15 frets!
  11. So, ordering as you probably well know is problematic during this crisis. So I order up 2 kits with extras and the bulk of this one has arrived, just awaiting some delicious guns from Micromaster in NZ. Best 3D printing I have seen hands down. The Big Blue Boy upgrade is Newly produced so this should be one of the first builds. I got some actual aa guns that are not a flat piece of PE which I dislike anyway. The plans are from Profile Morskie. I also got some extra aircraft for the hangar. The ship was commissioned in 1938 and effectively gone by 1942. Not much to weather
  12. So, the next 2, there is a newly released upgrade for Strasbourg on a slow boat from Hong Kong
  13. It would be a very very small tour! You Victorian's won’t be allowed out for a while
