RGL got a reaction from mtaylor in HMAS Vendetta 1925 by cog, popeye the sailor, and RGL - FINISHED - Showcase Models -1/350 - PLASTIC
The square thingy on the bow is a building in the back ground. By 1945 the a turret was replaced by a depth charge thrower and the overhang under the B turret was shortened.
There is a description in the AWM photographs but no clear images.

You can see the after torpedo tubes have been landed and it looks like the added a sideboard near the rear cannon platform as the paintwork rises above deck level.
Needed to to make some room for my next build.

I like that camo mate, well done on such a small build.

Salt added at the waterline and done. Just park it up with the others awaiting Cog and Popeye. So small compared to a modern DDG.

Yupz, we decided, bossman 'n me, it was not to be, so it wasn't hard to decide to get going ...
You'll think you will ever need ...
You are pulling a fast one ... as usual in the beginning, but ... then you will come up with the tiny omissions/changes/addititions/improvements ... maybe I can even twist your arm to do some out of the blue ...
The red looks rather like flat red on the sheet, but it isn't. Wrote that somewhere in the beginning. RGL built it up with several shades, besides the real shading, and highlighting he added. Look at the Tamiya linoleum decking for the colour, that comes quite close, especially if you add some red, or add that to some red. Which one has got to do with the quantity of paint required to get the right mix - when adding light to dark you require more paint, than the other way around, quite logical, but often forgotten in the heat of painting ... examples: pink - add red to white, soften up red - add white to red. darken red - add dark grey (for modelling, do not use black) So far paint lesson #2 or is it #3 ...
I would have expected the camo to be more sharp lined not so much roundish, at least that is what I've seen mostly, some times a large round line but mostly sharp turns e.a., the RN G & H class destroyers didn't have the female touch in camo. It did turn out well ... she has something wild about her ... first see how it turns out when you added camo to the structures above the deck ... that will be a challenge ... so far ... well done Denis
I don't know what they added to the bow, that large squarish crate. The aft torpedo's should have been replaced by 20mm oerlikon or pom-poms, it'll probably have been the oerlikon, straight from the USN

I'm going to go for the 1941 version.........she had two camo jobs done on her about this time. what stinks though, is that most of the pictures are in black 'n white, so I had a hard time judging if they used black or a darker gray. I'm going for the gray, since the pendant number can still be read though the camo. it was said that during some of her refits, armament from captured ships was used on her {mainly the smaller guns} and operated them until the seized ammo was used up

RGL got a reaction from DORIS in HMAS Vendetta 1925 by cog, popeye the sailor, and RGL - FINISHED - Showcase Models -1/350 - PLASTIC
The Lowe hull done, firstly I did a black preshade for the ribs, then a dark red overcoat, then Tamiya flat red using a small piece of paper to highlight the ribs and a pinker red overspray.
Im actually happy with the depth it achieves.
I lnow it looks very red now but it’s only about a third of the hull with the bootstrap and grey hull to go.
once I’ve done that I can place depth markers then grunge time.

I wasn’t happy with the kit search light or it’s accuracey compared to the original plans so I based it a bit to bring it a little more in line.

Morning all!
140 port holes
The the bump on the stern piece are either the prop guard or stands for the depth th charges.
Ive been pottering around yesterday afternoon doing up the aft funnel as per the original plans, and being comfortably smug I pulled out the WEM fret to get the funnel grill off and....
they don’t fit.
I flat out out refuse to use the kit plastic one (on the deck beside the funnel) so I fabricated one from spares, as they’ll be black it won’t be that noticeable
