Hi Everyone and a Happy New Year to you all. I'm back in the Boatyard after the Xmas break in the UK and glad to be back with the smell of glue and sawdust.
Apart from a few minor things the hull and deck are almost complete so I thought it was time to look at the masts. The Tops seem to have an important part to play in the assembly of the masts so these were my first task.
This is my progress to date but the edgings around the tops drove me crazy!! No matter how carefully I tried to bend the edging strips they broke every time so I scratched my head for a minute and decide to try Lollypop Sticks and they worked a treat!! The Mizzen Top is now ready for the paint shop with just the Main and Fore to complete which hopefully I will do in the next few days.

I've been having a torrid time trying to create the Cutwater Braces etc for the bow as the plans and instructions are severely lacking (not for the first time!) However, between McKays book and other builders on this site, notably Steve1234, I've managed to bring something together but it's still very much work in progress. Also they say the camera never lies and seeing the photos I've got quite a bit of paint to touch up.

just found this log eddie looks really cool will def be following along one thing I did notice was the zap nozzles I also use zap a gap what I tend to do is save all me fizzy drink bottle caps and pour a small amount at a time into one then I use a metal dental pick type tool to aply small amounts of glue or if I really wanna spread glue in a hurry use a small length of planking ,the metal tool I can scrape clean the planking gets binned as does the bottle cap ,some times ive used the same bottle cap for two days running and the glue in it is still workable ,sorry if im teaching granny to suck eggs just explaining how I do use zap a gap anyways goodluck with your build looks really interesting to follow

20" wing span lol can't wait to show you pics of this quarter scale cub I've had to change vehicles from a nice sports car to a boring estate car just to take the bad boy to the flying field ,that's how committed I've became to my new hobby

STEVE!!! good to hear from you! HA.......caught the bug eh?!?!? I build the Guillows planes...got back into it after what seems like an eternity......I'm building a Fokker Dr 1 - 1:14 scale. I'm afraid to show the admiral how big it is......it's got a 20 inch wingspan. glad to hear your having fun with it......hope you post some pictures, and I'd take a front row to see another great ship build. keep me informed

Hello all and welcome back to my penultimate post on HMS Bounty
another milestone reached is completion of the running rigging I thank you guys for the suggestions on the stay line distortion issue I had
I stiffened the line with the white glue and water mix and played about and redone the lines several times Im know going to conclude I believe some distortion is normal maybe not so much on the real ship but it is just rope and any pulling on it at all will of course distort it so I think I can live with that .
We still ofcourse haven't reached completion there still remains my achilles heal on this ship, the ships boat and rope coils
with completion of the running rigging I am now going to let myself begin the rc aeroplane build
but your can be dam sure ill be back with a ships boat and rope coils to claim my sought after FINISHED badge in the title
so with some sadness the shipyard is deconstructed and now converted to a hangar
