    Couldn’t find the product Ekis recommended so used a bit of painted gauze with clear plastic. Looks ok but the plastic is a bit too clear for glass of this time. Still battling through the tiles.

    Get well soon, picked up something a week or so ago and then spent a couple of days being paranoid that it was C19. One hot chilli later all back to normal

    Very cool, have some items on order from Shapeways who do 3D printing mainly Medieval guards but also some Oxen as want to add a few carts as well. Not getting much done on my church as roof tiles isn’t part I get much enjoyment from

    May be picking the master builder’s brains on weathering the bricks as have started to experiment with a bit of slime here and there and think it really adds to it

    Sunday update, slowly finishing the initial brick work must still need to do a bit of clean up. Started on the tiles to mix it up a bit

    Thanks for sharing Laura, it takes a lot of effort and perseverance to complete such a large project and get these results your grandfather must have been a talented modeller.

    Me t on my list is a watchtower it will look similar to Ekis’ one as it came with the original kit but sure mine will look like it has done 20 rounds with a series of siege weapons. After that I have half a house and half a lords manor that came with the original kit. Then I have 3 houses that came with an Aedes Ars kit sadly I am in love with their bricks. Will need to scratch build the gate house and want to add a forge, stable and a series of animal pens. Definitely keen on doing a silage pile but not sure how to model that big.

    Thanks for the comment. Any suggestions on the kits as need to plan out the rest and open to ideas on buildings, people, wagons etc. May have to do some scratch building.

    Using similar card and my suggestion is to use internal bracing as I have a lot of bowing in the walls which makes it hard to get things level and looking dressed. I now use the dust created from sanding and basically brush it into any gaps I see and the either wet it lightly to make it return to clay and leave it to dry or in some cases use a Matt varnish to hold it into place. This doesn’t remove the gaps but lessens how much it stands out when you look at it and seems to work well.

    Great painting and looking forward to seeing this progress as always wanted to do a Napoleonic diorama

    Looking really good, I need to finish the church first but am being tempted to start the scenics and other buildings

    Although I still need to do the final clean up and sanding think the extra effort on the windows is starting to pay off. Need to finish this building before mo ing on but already getting tempted by the watchtower.

    It is addictive, have the last 15 townspeople to paint and tempted to outsource them to O.C. given the results he gets. Looking forward to seeing what you are planning as I am still battling through my cloisters.

    8 broken versions but finally got the brick shaped correctly! So much for this being a stress reliever.

    Oh no, Another great addition! Was thinking of something similar but mounting it on the wall. Before the current war travelled through Syria and spent a few days wandering around Krak de Cheviallers. There were a number of turrets that I auumed were some type of catapult mounting but turned out to be for windmillls. I remember there were about 14.

    Thanks Ekis for the detailed response, looked at having the larger bricks on the corners and as the first layer of bricks but am now holding them back for use on the walls. Plucking up the courage to try your weathering technique as it looks amazing. Waitoa

    Far better than my drop test, looks good by the way and there is always more room for these builds. Kevin - thanks experimenting with various ways o building so good to get your comments

    Interested in how Kevin and Ekis do their walls. I tend to zig zag my bricks laying a course of bricks for each length of wall. This means that different parts of the walls are at different heights which hopefully shows what I mean. This stops me from getting bored but also allows me to run a file across the top so it is relatively flat for the next layer. Also it has allowed me to weave the various bricks in on the corners and has made it quite strong. Accidentally dropped it and other than a few bricks it held together. Ekis and Kevin - your thoughts?

    Thanks for the kind words, looking forward to getting this one done as only when looking at it I realised it is a pretty big job to tackle as a first attempt
