Hi, Making slow progress and started to rig the guns that will be visible. Trying to live a more minimalist lifestyle and that doesn’t really work when you like making models and have a number of half finished projects lying about. Also found when I started this hobby I went for the cheaper end and smaller end of the kit set market. In hindsight with a limited skillset and thick fingers think it will be worth paying a bit more and going up in scale. Waitoa

Your tower looks amazing, having a bit of break from the village at the moment as under Admiral’s orders o do some landscaping. Managing to sneakily do some more on the HMS Surprise when she is not looking -

Small Birthday present a Metclafe model gatehouse made from card. While the stone work is wrong for the rest of The village gave me a number of ideas for the one I need to construct. Other than that the rest of the village is on hold until I finish the landscaping project I promised the Admiral. -

Thanks for the kind words have a 3/4s built HMS Surprise I may finish off as got stuck on how to complete the windows. These kits are quite addictive so don’t be too surprised if I dabble here and there over the next few months. Waitoa -

Thanks, think the material mesh I am using is tulle, looking forward to seeing how it comes out as my first two went a bit cloudy but that may be as I did some sanding while it was setting -

Hard to see from these emails but think I have solved my glazing issue. Sure other people knew about this Glue n glaze product but has been a real revelation. I paint a piece of netting and the wipe a layer of glue across this. initially it is a while colour but as drys it becomes translucent. One happy bunny. -

I thought I was doing well on keeping current with the Marvel universe and got some street cred as I went to Uni with one of the Directors but getting totalLy lost with this stuff and now have a budding miniature painter who is using all my gear and speaks in a language which is totally foreign to me, -

Oh dear, this is a whole new world to me and having to watch YouTube videos at night so I can understand what my son is talking about. I know that he is currently painting Necrons and just glad he is doing something creative rather watching screens all day. -

Is that not right for this period? My son is getting into Warhammer 40k and I am being roped in to help paint and he suggested the inclusion to add some drama -

Thanks, I have a habit of starting things and then putting them on hold, this will be a very slow build and have 3 part built boats I need to finish. One of the positives of the lockdowns is that I have time on my hands that I normally wouldn’t have as used to have to travel within Europe a bit. Just need to deal with the lack of motivation and home schooling.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
