You're welcome Augie. There will be more to follow, and I will be posting a separate set of pictures of my journey in the Museums and other ships section of the forum soon. Too time consuming right now, but that way other people can view them than just the ones following my log. Just time for a couple of more, then I have to hook up and head to Gettysburg, Pa. today. these were in the Collections and Research building, which is a fascinating place all by itself.

this drawing was actually taped to the bulkhead next to the wheel and tiller to show the person restoring it how it is supposed to look.

Sorry to hear that you're still suffering from this. It gets hard to shake off. Yes, the Queen would be interesting. I, of course are in the same time length also on the carronades that you are, only even further out. I haven't finished the Morgan yet, and wouldn't be starting the Niagra until that is finished. Just planning ahead, and would start accumulating options as they are available so that I would be prepared once I begin. Chuck seems to just be in the planning stages at this point, and with his time constraints, this could be a while coming. I guess, this could be an excuse for a Sherline lathe and mill.....lol. Unfortunately, I used to have both, but lost them in a divorce. Check out Chuck's build log on the Winchelsea, he sent me a drawing of his proposed carronade, it is 15/16" long. I don't have a Niagra carronade handy to compare it to. He designed it for the Syrene, but I think it is the same scale. Get well Dude! No time for being down and sick.

Thanks Rich and Larry.  I hope these help eveeryone.  After viewing the models in the museum, I have come to the conclusion that the MSW builders are far superior in building skills  than the museum builders or donors.  The models on MSW could go with great pride to any Maritime Museum hands down.  Great job to everyone who participates...

this is a 1/2" - 1'0" scale model.....in the Collections & Research building.  All of the others are in a vault with large steel sliding doors and just stacked up in rows and available only for research and not open to the general public without an appointment and an escort.

OK, coppering is finished.  I got the starboard side done, then capped the keel, touched up some paint and here it is.   Major accomplishment and I like how it turned out.

Sjors, in her current condition she'd never make it to Rotterdam. She would wind up in Davy Jones' Locker. But I'll instruct the museum curator of your request....perhaps he'll comply.....

I just read the news that today in Mystic, Ct is the beginning of the Connecticut Schooner Festival, and a lot of the tall ships will be here for the weekend.  Looks like I just made it to the Morgan before the crowds showed up.

Hi Lawrence, my Admiral and i were discussing the same thing as we looked at her.  Imagine life must have been really tough those days and times.  Glad you are enjoying the pictures along with others.  We are enjoying our tour.  Tomorrow we're off to Gettysburg, Pa. and then to Virgina Beach.  I haven't been to Norfolk since I got out of the Navy in 1972.

and you say that I build fast.....you're catching up quickly .... looks good Augie..I toured the Morgan today, and had a ball.  I'll be posting pictures soon as I get some time.  It is really cool to walk on board something you're building a miniature of.....kind of a wierd feeling....told them I was building a scale model of her, and got a lot of "Royal" treatment.  Got to go in their Research and Collections building, see the models, and meet some intersting people including the Head Project Manager.  Even a couple of things that unfortunately I am sworn to secrecy about, so I can't share with anyone, but it is awesome.  An absolutely incredible day.
