Also a thought to keep in mind this log was started before the big crash so it was restarted and the beginning summarized. The Confederacy will begin on the new site and will have derailing side conversations from the beginning. Chances is are it may push 200 pages.

Well the hull is done finally. I guess I still have to drill holes in the chain plates but I'll do that when I start the rigging. For now I've go the masts up and the gaff and boom on for the spanker. Just need a few spars and it's off to the rigging yard.

At least you gave it a try. Most of the guys in my club look at what I do and say. "Better you than me."
Well I got the cannons done and I still had bit of sanity left so I added some hatches and a capstan. Now that my sanity is totally shot I'll call it a day.

Al - Seems as though I've been running into you a lot today and I'm just now connecting the dots. I would love to see your Black Pearl that one has been on my list for a long time.
Well as the old saying goes if it ain't broke don't fix it. I went back to my usual method of eye balling it. I forgot the crazy measurements and the careful calculations and followed my motto, "If it looks right it probably is." Strangely enough I have a more accurate hull and have had more fun building. Remind me not to think so much.
That and I finally got time to sit down and build. Work has been crazy, kiddos have been up all night and into everything, then when that was all said and done the Admiral had me cleaning the galley and swabbing the decks. Still I got some build time in. Now I can go out tomorrow and do it all again.
So here's the long awaited pictures.
It still needs to come down a bit more but I am by far happier with this result then my last two attempts. After I get it just right I'm debating planking the hull as Al mentioned or doing what I did with the Santa Maria and scribing the planks. Got some time before I get to that so we'll see.
Thank you all for your help and support. I have enjoyed and taken into great consideration all of the suggestions posted.

Augie - That's very interesting. I'm aware of only one other SIB builder in Colorado and only since I partially got that one interested in it. It's good to here there's a few more out there. I didn't think you were even contemplating attending my class since you are so far north but thank you for your thoughts and well wishes. I'm sure it will be fun. I need to post an update actually. 20 some odd hulls masts and bottles is a sight to see.
Mark- Of coarse I'll have holes in the chain plates it's essential. The back stays are one continuous line so that I can tighten at an equal slack. I figured out I can fun a line down one hole in the chain plate and up another back and forth until the back stays are all in. As far as dead eyes I have thought of including them in the same way I did with the Santa Maria. At this scale the best method is to dab paint on the line until it creates a little ball that looks like a dead eye. Some go as far as gluing extra tiny lines to that ball to look like the line going through the dead eye. Not sure if I'll do that or not.
