Is it the red squarred object ?
In that case, there is no hole, it's a false draw glued on the wooden piece...

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your comment
My secret (what a great word... 😀) is the choice of significative details, and for that, I use a "general mental picture" of finished model
It's not a possible process for a first model, this one is my 6th, so, before this ship, have I learned more alone than in modelism manuals
Regards,
Chris

Hi, Bill,
I've rectified some errors of the hull below the waterline, red colored on my illustration
The monograph's hull doesn't run correctly, as seems to me, I ignore the reason of that
I don't know details of Heller's realization, but the monograph is more probably wrong,
and I redraw some rear elements in order to fix this problem, I did'nt like the heavy hull :
I also suppressed two gun-ports of the back-stern, the four guns were impossible to use (no much place)
Regards
Chris

It's interesting to see how much her lines resemble the Le Soleil Royal. Your Saint Philippe is stunning !
Thanks, Bill
It's like a "sister-ship" of the SR, only real difference is the simplified decoration, with few complicated elements, and the suppression of one upper quarter-deck
Lemineur has also applicated a 10% longer general proportion, and I think that's the disposition making the vessel more "elegant" 😀

Chris
