Hi Jan! You are right in both cases: these are spare propeller blades and small ventilation cowls , there were a lot of them on the ship.

Thank you all for your likes and interest in my humble work. I am continuing to assemble the parts for the model. Ventilation pipe.

Yves, I will not paint them, on top they will be covered with nickel and inside they will remain copper.

Ras, The most reliable and time-tested way to protect a wooden surface is to cover it with fiberglass and epoxy resin. In this case, you need to put at least two layers. When applying epoxy resin, you need to warm it up a little with an electric hairdryer, the resin will easily spread and soak the fiberglass well. All other methods do not guarantee moisture protection of the tree. Cracks in the paint and other troubles may appear.

I greet all members of the forum and continue building the model. Installation of parts on the top of the funnel fiue.

Thanks Michael! I am pleased to watch your masterpieces made of wood. And your workshop with excellent equipment amazes me!

The length of the model is 1728 mm, it is not a very large model. This size is convenient to work with in my small workshop. Thank you Popeye , I try very hard .

I have no paint numbers. I mix paints myself and select the shade I need. You don't have to worry about the metal under the paint, as there will still be a lot of details without paint.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
