  1. Time to finalize the hull of my Granado that has been sitting to long on the shelf. Rails, deckplanking and some details done.
  2. Thanks Jason... hope to be back soon in the shipyard. Been focusing on my plastics builds for a while.
  3. I would suggest that the Moderators clean up the last pages of this thread with all the "when is the next update?", "any news?"-discussions. I know everyone WANTS to hear news but asking about it doesnt make it faster... Considering how active Jim is on this forum, I am sure we will be the first to know when there are any news. It is kind of clear that this kit has been delayed until further notice.
  4. Seeing the sometimes intense discussion on things like this, I think some people overthink it. A kit is just a kit and you have to decide what quality and correctness you can put in it to get happy customers and also make profits. Woodenship are perfect for scratchbuidling and if you want to add or remove parts its quite simple to do that. As long as you are happy with your own build its noones business if you decide to paint it in pink.
  5. I really like that the whole concept of adding a few figures to the ships. Perhaps not as with plastics tanks and dioramas where you create some kind of scene. Instead I think that a figure on a ship can be used to get a feeling for the scale.
  6. I already have the Captain so I just need to order the rest of the 89 people in the crew for my Speedy... 😉 What about designing a figure climbing the rig?
  7. Very nice.... do you have a buildlog? Would be great to see more!
  8. I am not a master builder but I find most of the build rather straightforward and with the detailed instructions everything is kind of easy to follow. Gunports are always abit of challange, but I found this to be easier to get in place than the other models I have done.
  9. Great to see another member in the Speedy club. Its always interesting to see how others build it and what personal choices they make. Good luck!
  10. And here she is in her full glory. I will now take a break from the work, since I am going on a long holiday abroad for the first time in 2.5 years. So dont expect any updates until I am back at the bench.
  11. I realized that I have now completed the building phase of the model and reached page 48 of 54 in the manual. No more cutting wood, sanding, painting nor gluing parts. All what is left to do has been organized into this box. I have no clue how long time it will take to tie all the blocks and rig Speedy but it feels good to have completed this stage of the build. I will try to take some proper photos of how the ship looks like and post them in the next post. Thanks for all the nice comments and support so far.
  12. Finally! I did a few mistakes but are quite happy about the result. This really adds a cherry on the pie. Not an easy project but definitely worth it!
  13. Nothing wrong with the kitparts but decided to go scratch with boxwood for a more united colourscheme.
  14. Thanks for the advice, I managed to do the hard part without breaking it. The worst was to get rid of all CA glue. I decided to deviate from the instructions and add the top rail before removing the frames to get a more solid structure. Its hard work but I do think this piece will really add to the finish of the model.
  15. First planking done! Now on to some touchups and then the scary removal of bulkheads... help me God
  16. Moving on to the ships boat... this is abit tricky but I think I am through the worst part... first couple of planks. Now it is stable and just keep adding pieces to it!
