    Thanks for this, alpayed! I just had a quick look and definitely a big help for a complete novice like me. I haven't built anything yet as I am trying to get as much information I can before building a ship. This might be a bit off topic, how did you get that kind of colour on the ship on your first page. Is that just varnish? Will the colour/type of paint part of the instruction?

    Hi Duanelaker, well done, mate! I'm seeing myself in you! I am a beginner, struggled with terminologies and without prior experience, so a complete noob. But I am really keen as my kids wanted us to build some model ships. I am still trying to read/study as much as I could. It is quite overwhelming for me. At least, you managed to complete this boat. So again, hats off to you, mate!

    Nice work, Rony. I've just skimmed through your build log quickly and I'm really impressed. I'm keen to purchase this very same kit as my first time build. Once I got it, I will visit your build log again and closely study your procedures. I'm really impressed with your work considering this is your first build.

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
