it quite possible Sarah.......they like to eat as well.   when my son and I were climbing on those rocks at low tide,  there were way too many for us to gather them all.   we even caught a crab.......but a seagull took it away from us.  we watched it pick it up and fly over the rocks.  he dropped it,  and it broke it's shell.........the gull then landed and ate it!   so cool!

thanks Michael....I guess the answer to your question is the same as Sarah's......but yea......they do get around.  they're just out looking for food.

I have to work tomorrow.......it's very late for me.........a huge thank you to every one else who commented....I really appreciate the good words.  even 'I' am impressed with how it came out     there are still a couple more thing i want to do,  and then it will be finished.  the Phylly C won't take much to finish her......and then I can finish the AmericA build.     the Goth is waiting.   thanks again!

P.S.    I knew you liked it Andy

I wouldn't call her "unloved"..... She's got lots of character, and she looks ready to put in a hard day's work. That's how they look in real life... While some of us prefer that "new boat smell" fresh out of the showroom, it's nice to see a few with some "dings" and scuffs.

    Good day folks,

Well, what can be said other than that it is so sad that all the beautiful input has been lost from this site. There were so many wonderful models and a wealth of information for all to share. Now is the time for us all to rebuild the site together.

Today I will just post a photo of the stern of the Sovereign as she sits today while I consider if it is possible to revive the log as it previously was.

    More to folllow...........

    Regards,

Yeah... very nice...  very clean and precise. A good clean solid foundation to start off with will go a long way. Hope your family if feeling better soon.

Note to self.. avoid buying plastic scroll saw.. go with scary looking antique steel one...

OK...... just a little picture update..... all the yards fitted with salis and attached to the masts, this almost completes the standing rigging, I need to run the yard braces and tye off the backstays, then I can start to work on painting up the crew!! Boom gaff and driver gaff have to be attached ..... almost forgot those...

I'm still keeping in touch.. been in Thunder Bay since yesterday noon (EDT). I'm relegated to working on 1:1 ships for the time being. I'll try and restart my old "Andy's Maritime Adventures" Thread from MSW 1.0 (with photos, of course)

I think people don't realise the true cost of keeping a museum ship, let alone restoring one. It's easily in the millions of $$ per year, and unless there's some kind of public support, most good natured intentions are doomed to fail.

It's one thing to stick your nose out the door and go "*sniff* Hmmm cold out..." and the retreat back inside.. Try having to clear frozen sounding pipes, valves and other plumbing work, when the contents of said plumbing would prefer not to exist in a liquid state... Oh yeah... Did I mention that at the same time you yourself has also been forced to endure said frigid temperatures for several hours and most likely due to the aforementioned issues are also soaked to the skin (yet the outer layers of your clothing has begun to freeze)....
