Moving forward on the aft lower deck, I've now completed the next set of partitions. These are the the second of the three transverse portions (and it's attached upper deck beam) and two fore and aft partitions which create what the plans refer to as the captain's bed place and the mate's cabin. I also did the interior hull planking in this area.

All of the partitions were made up from boxwood strip, as was the hull planking. The doors were made from boxwood strip, with cut off  round head brass pins for handles and blackened brass hinges from a PE set in my stash. As always, everything was finished with Wipe-on Poly.

My next work will be to finish the work on the aft lower deck and to add the remaining deck beams for the upper deck above the lower deck area.

Thank you very much Denis and Patrick,

these little wooden corners will fit into the inside groove of the bonets bottom rails. The brass sleeves center on the cylindric portion of the screw members sticking upward on the base plate

Okay, so now you're a dryer mechanic. What else did they teach you at Engineering School at Uni????

Multi talented you are🙂  I certainly envy you.

Meanwhile, I can't even hang a picture straight on our wall at home😕

    Denis,

thank you very much for your nice compliments,.....
The case has been started, but then my wifes laundry dryer had a break down for a ripped off drive belt. I ordered a new one which came today, so I spent the remaining afternoon, taking the dryer apart, and searching U-tube and the web for a hint how to get the new belt around the drum and to get it spaned correctly. After 3 hours of sweat running and putting all together again, it works like new, and the admiral is happy.

The glasser did a very good job (exact cutting and all within required tolerances). Yesterday I made the Baseplate of the case with its quaterround concave edge lines all around, and shafted the 4 long beams......, next will be light sanding over, and staining of the wooden parts...

    Carl,

thank you very much for your kind appreciative words. For rounding up the build there will next to the appropriate post update, still be a set of photos to be made and to be placed in my gallery.

For my next model I have now made up my mind and chosen a Chebece type vessel. I simply just ca`nt free my mind from the lovely pics of this ship type that Karl, member (Jeronimo), did show in the introduction to his current build. I presume the French Chebec "Le Requin" may be a bit above my skill level, but I have ordered the plans and building intructions only, from Amati in Torino for the beautiful Arabian / north African Amati Sciabecco 1753 Chebec. The scale I am intending to enlarge from 1:60 to 1:48, and to perform it in a modified and customised POB scratch build (somewhat like the hull framing I did with the Pegasus build from Amati Plan some time ago). In the moment I`m still in the research and planning phase, while the KWdG is being completed.

When the time for the start shot comes, of course there will be a seperate build log....

Finishing up on Gangboards and Gangways --

Setting in the knees proved to be both easy and tricky:  the three that go in the open area of the waist were the easy ones, and the two that sit under each side of the fo'c'sle deck were the tricky ones, since they required angling the tweezers in just right way and then getting the glued edge of the knee up against the bulwark in the perfect alignment.  It took several goes, but I finally got them in (and forgot to photograph them in plain view).

Setting the gangboard on top of the knees was cause for a bit of anxiety, since that would be the test of how accurately the knees were lined up. . . .

Ah, success.  -- You can see how much the gangboards had to be shaped to fit the curvature of the waist.  It would have made sense to have used a scarph joint to accommodate the curve, but that seemed somewhat elaborate for a structure that was in theory just tacked up.

The next step was to set the gangways in.  The forward edge of these sit just on top of the aft-most bit of the gangboards.  And I've been considering putting a support post under the gangway.  I turned a pair of posts out of cherry, and offer these views of the starboard gangway & post dry-set just to give an idea of how they might look (if glued they wouldn't be askew as they are here):

So, I'm still not sure about the post (and I apologize for the blurry pictures -- they looked a lot sharper in the MS Picture Manager, really).  So I hope you guys will offer your honest views.  If I put them in, it'll be because they make a nice decorative touch.  If I scrap them, well, at least I enjoyed the opportunity to use my Proxxon lathe.

Meanwhile, here's the latest addition to my neighborhood:

    Cheers,

    Martin

    Thanks very much Gerhard,

the glass case will be nothing fancy, but large glass areas for good viewing from all sides, minimum frame thickness, and rigid enough for the bonnet to be taken off upwards. As the 4 mm thick glass brings quite some weight, it takes 2 persons to safely handle the bonnet, when settling it down on the brass positioning pins of the baseplate.
