  1. hahaha sure!! yeah, i'm thinking the same about the alu plating... thanks a lot for the comments,
  2. hi all, good afternoon! i painted the hull with the black colour, as you can see the chalk paint leaves some parts without paint, with an aged effect; i'm not sure about it, in the wood parts for me is ok, in the bow it's worst, but i think i'll leave it as you can see. I know it's different and sure a lot of people dont like it, but at least it's something different,... Please say me something 😊. At this moment i have the option to cover all with more black paint. regards and take care with the covid!! ☣️
  3. wow, the sled is a great idea! 😲 about if they made it when they have been stucked in the ice or in the shipyard, i think they made it insitu, in the O'Brian books a lot of times they're making small adaptions or even small boats with not needed wood... surely the Terror and Erebus depart with a lot of replacements including masts and they can made it as needed,.. i like a lot, maybe i'll copy your design hehehe 😅
  4. otherwise, it's possible to fix the first planks of the ice bumpers with pins and glue to the first+second planking, cutting the heads of the pins; the second, third, four, etc additional planks of the ice bumpers, only with glue. Sure it will not move hehehe 😄
  5. ok perfect, i like the idea of the name of the ship at the stern; i'm seeing the typography used in England in the years when the Terror has ben built, more or less 1813. I finded this link: https://www.sirgordonbennett.com/british-typography/, following the years i think the most accurate typografy can be Baskerville Old Type, maybe i can made something with the laser printer... regards and take care 🤗
  6. hi Clearway, your model is each day better and better, really i like it! i've my doubts at starting about not painting it, but all wood job is awesome! about the letters with the name, it's interesting, do you have info about the tipography in the real ship? i think in this age, all the ships showed his name at the stern but i'm not sure maybe it's a film invention. Reeding the O'Brian books it seems the people distinguishes the ships for a lot of small things: size of sails, lenght of the masts, the line of the hull, etc so at this moment i'm not sure if the ships showed the name 🧐 regards,
  7. hi all, i wish all of you are fine, at this moment i'm confined at home for ten days, i'm a close contact of an infected guy in my office (it seems The Walkind Dead hahaha). I'm fine no symptoms, but bored hehehe. Well at least i have more time to work, study and take the model. I'll show you my "steampunk" bow with the metal plates already finished, well i'm not very happy with the final result but considering it's my first time with metal plating, well, it's enough for me.. i'm sanding it to leave smooth surface and later i'll varnish and paint all hull, maybe today or tomorrow greetings for all the great family of Terror's builders!! 🤗
  8. wow, such improvements!!! i'm shocked! 😲 the final model will be astonishing, well done! 👍👍😄
  9. hi clearway good afternoon, the small boat is very nice, a great addition! no comparison it's possible with the supplied in the kit, uff my god... Also i like a lot the replaced knees maybe i'll change it too, thanks for the idea. I'm making at this moment the metal planking of the bow, very steampunk fashion at this moment hahaha i'll upload some photos asap. regards!
  10. hi Daniel good morning, wellcome to the Terror fleet! we're legion hehehe. Good starting! regards,
  11. thanks a lot clearway!! 😄 really was my fault, i have no age for some technical trails with the bike... but you know a men has always 20 years in his mind hahaha regards,
  12. hi ObviousNewbie, thanks a lot for your comments! sure i'll be better soon, about the ice-shocks there a lot of wood, i fixed it with a lot of pins each plank and leaving dry the glue, to avoid gaps; but later with the Dremel i made some valleys, well the ice-shocks have at this moment more personality!! hahaha about rigging i'm not sure yet the way to make it, seeing the Occre videos all job is made on the model and i think it's the best way to ensure all ropes are tensioned, but sure it's more difficult... In my previous model i mounted the yardarms after mount the mast, i know what are you saying, sometimes the model almost flew out the window!!!. and you know your comments are very appreciated, you've finished this model with excellent result so for me it's an inspiration in each step! 🤗 regards and keep pushing the Diana!
  13. hi ObviousNewbie good morning, i see your planking good, this kit is large and more complex than the Terror! you use a lot of pins as me 😊, i think it's the best way. Be aware with the raising planks between them, you will need to sanding it a lot. I'm yet using steam to curve the planks but it need some hours i think, i prefer it because so when it dries they are not leaving gaps. Your method it's interesting i'll try it with next model 🤗 regards!
  14. hi Keith good morning, i think i'll use the parts included in the kit, i know are very simple and not accurate, in fact i'm not working in the model these days... at this moment i'm a bit depressed, last sunday i fell off my ebike and my left knee is in bad condition 😔, at least i can work from home, but the knee it's a torture.. well i think in some days i'll be better i'm seeing your advances in your Terror, well done! 🏅 regards,
  15. Ahhh Mantua sorry hehehe 😇, it's true impossible to find the máster korabel out of stock on all stores...
  16. Ohh the deck boat is wonderful, It's your own design? It's different than the máster korabel!! Well done Keith, the model looks awesome!
  17. hi Keith, thanks a lot for your comment, i had some problems with the handrails, very difficult for me to take the curve and they are not very well placed, but with a lot of sandpaper it looks better hehehe. I'm thinking about to follow with the metal plating of the bow and painting all and finish all the hull before start with small pieces above the deck. Are you starting with the wiring? i think all the wire between the hull and the masts it's going to be a lot of fun 😅, i my first model only a few wires was not very difficult to fix it tight but in this model, uffff 😭 i think all the wires and ropes must to be as tight as possible, i hate soft ropes... regards!!
  18. hi all good afternoon, working a bit on the kit, all wood work is finished, some pictures of the stern. I'm not happy with the handrail, not well finished, i'll try to fill with something to avoid gaps before final painting... i've made the windows of the stern with a pattern bubbles finded in internet and printed with a laser printer; quickly and easy but sure it's better to use a more noble material hahaha. With the vernish i think it'll be better. thanks a lot for your comments and regards, take care!
  19. ok i'm seeing the size of the crew boats from Master Korabel, a bit smaller of supplied in the kit but no problem. A looot of work in very small size, i think your boats will be more tricky than the Terror. I need to think about it, very nice boats but i'm not sure about my capabilities... 🤨 best regards !! UPDATE: i'm seeing the photos of Keith S, with the master korabel boat above the Terror, i want it!!! i'll try to find it in Spain 🤣🤣
  20. hi Broden good afternoon, your deck boats are veeery nice, i love it! i'll search it, you're correct the supplied boats are very bad (well, not complicated, according to the kit level..), thanks for the addition. At this moment i'm varnishing the model, prior to apply the black/white final pattern. The wood looks so gooood! 😊 here in Barcelona the weather are nice all year, but my job is from 8:00AM to 18:00PM and later i must to make additional IT courses... so my model will not be finished to next summer, with luck! be careful with the covid i think we'll be stuck with it until next summer 😔😔 best regards,
  21. hi Broden, i'm seeing your pictures and i like it a lot! the planks are fine finished, no gaps and the "belly" is well finished too, very clean the wood, well done! i know the problem is in the bow as myself, it's tricky to fix the planks with the glue and avoid the raises, i have not enough fingers hahaha. I used with the last planks a mask tape (i'm not sure if it's the correct word i'll put a photo), i think we're making a good job for our first kits 😊 i'm making the ice protections, not very difficult. I've protected the thin second plank layer with tape and i can sanding the ice protector with no care, with the Dremel or the sand block; a lot of wood must to be removed! A picture of the tape and a wood block to pressure strong the planks to the hull, you can use to fix one side of the plank and then it's more easy to fix the rest of the plank with glue. I started fixing it at the bow and follow to the other side of the hull, pressing the plank with the wood block. regards and good work,
  22. Hi Paul, Welcome to our Terror fleet!! About the printed instructions not worry you can find a useful videos at occremania.com, you can see step by step the construction of complete model Regards and be Happy with your ship! 🤗
  23. hi broden, good planking well done! the sanding are leaving it as smooth as needed... The second plank for me was a big problem, you know the planks are too thiin, i'm not very satisfied with it, but the black paint will cover all... Also i'm seeing your paint choice, i really like the brown one but maybe you'll see the wood filler under it.. and two layers of brown and one layer of black?? I'm using chalk paint, first of all i need to varnish all the hull and the chalk paint above it will leave their characteristic pattern; maybe it'll be good choice or an impressive error, i don't know at this moment hehehe. My progress is very low i expect to make the paint job in two weeks regards and take care!
