  1. uuhhhh two new models! the Diana and the roman birreme!! 😱 another birreme is built at this moment by D_Mc (mantua model vs your Amati model), sure the plank is tricky, you'll know to curve it in 3D dimensions 😜 i'm not an expert but i think to avoid gaps between planks, do not use water to curve planks, only the electric solder to give the correct curvature. The planks with water inside are easy to fix but sometimes wheh dries, it leaves gaps. Or maybe you can fix it only with nails without glue, leave it to dry and fix it with the nails+glue, but very slow process. well done with Terror and sure new models will be both awesome! regards, F.
  2. A superb model, and nice pictures!! i like a lot the second one, it seems we're seeing the ship from another one, very realistic! well done, i can't imagine the hard life being a sailor inside this ships, going "upstairs" to extends or take the sails in a middle of a tempest at Artic region,... wow!! and actually we complain if our last Amazon order is being delayed hahahaha. I've retaken the Patrick O'Brian books this summer, but more than Jack Aubrey i'm more identified with S. Maturin 😊 good summer for all and take care! F.
  3. Ahhh perfect!! The Diana frigate model is very nice, i like It!! And you have a great level at this moment, sure you can do It. Your Terror ship is awesome, i'm seeing your pictures. Well done!! 😃
  4. Confirmed the Diana is not at occremania, only the Terror, the Beagle, easy models. No doubt you can contact occre by mail they're very charm, and remember him you're already customer 😜
  5. Hi obvious, you can contact occre, maybe they can send you a PDF copy of the instructions. At occremania i'm sure they're ready to download for Terror, maybe not for the Diana, so you can send a mail Regards, F.
  6. Hi jandrus, greetings from BCN!! 😄😄😄
  7. Great photos keith, for me very useful the pictures with the second planking, i'm terrified about it!! (Sorry bad joke), do you plan to use the metal planks or you'll leave the hull as this?? Regards, F.
  8. Hi drumgerry, another Terror joined to our fleet!! And regards to both Keith & whaka!! About first planking i think is important a smooth curves, the laser burn must to be dissapeared with the sandpaper to achieve a smooth transition for the planks. Six planks at the top, six planks at the bottom, and finally fill the hull. Dont forget to use water some hours ago with the planks and if you have It, you can use an electric solder yo fix the curves before glue It, the later sanding Will be more easy best regards, F.
  9. ahhh i wanted to do it with black paint at the junction between the hull and the benches, i'll make some test before 😅
  10. more photos about planking, please leave a comment; i'm seeing it not to bad, but this is my first planking "knowing that i'm done" hahaha. A bit tricky for me this stage,... regards to all and keep pushing, F.
  11. ah sorry, Occre has sent to me a pdf copy of the instructions (full version with sails), if anyone wants a copy please send me a PM with your mail and i'll share you a Drive with the file (35Mb) regards, F.
  12. hi Keith, very nice photos of your final planking, i'm seeing it with attention because in august i'll make mine About final planking i'm reading it's necessary to "press" it with a solid piece of wood, to assure the planks are well glued (it's difficult to use the sandpaper because the final plank are too thin... The same as the deck. I'm not sure about it, but i plan to use a lot of sandpaper with the first plank trying to leave it as smooth, curved & sexy as possible!! for glue i only use white transparent glue for wood, no contact glue or anything like this, for me it's very aggresive with the materials. This glue for wood remains five minutes more or less to dry but it's easy to take out/sanding if needed. ç regards to all, F.
  13. hi Miguel nice to meet you!! as you'll see, i think the spaniards are "rara avis" here, but the members are very kind people, collaborative and i feel at home here. Additionally is a great way to improve my english level hehehe.
  14. wow, it's a difficult model! my first model Albatros was also difficult to modeling the wood,... the soldering iron & water are a great help to bend the wood, i also use it. I think the small & "simple" models are in fact more complex than larger models, because the pieces are smaller and a single piece of wood needs more bends if a differents senses, so very complicated! keep pushing and regards, and take care! we're waiting more updates & photos 😊 F.
  15. hi all, some photos of first stage of planking, i'm using a welder (it's the correct word?) to curve the wood slats. Previously i'm leaving the slats with water at least 12h. finally one of the small boats, painted in brown/white colour with weather effect; long long time to take this effect and i'm not very happy with the final result,... two hands of brown paint, one hand vernish, two hands of white paint, sanding and the final vernish layer to fix it. regards!! F.
  16. Hi clearway, your Terror are very nice, i'm seeing you've a lot of XP making models!!! and the Victory is BIG!!!! 😅 i'm reviewing your photos, interesting the end of the first planking at the stern (sorry my english isn't capable of better description), i'm seeing also that for the bow you're not using the solid wood pieces included in the kit (well done, as expected for a master). I'm starting the first planking stage, i'll upload some photos soon, regards, F.
  17. the finish of the copper layer are awesome! do you plan to fix the corrosion & paint with a varnish or something like this? i'm using varnish overall, it's more easy to clean the dust. I'm suffering seeing your model with some years, if it's not sealed in a glass box... great photos, regards!
  18. Wow, the weathering is incredible, sure it's very difficult to take this level. I recognize my first time seeing the photos is a bit annoying, all people expects a great look, wonderful & brilliant colors, but… as more i see the photos, more i like it!!! in fact i'll apply it using chalk paint to my current Project, attached a photo. And this is your decision, the most important is that you'll proud of your model. It'll be different and it's not easy in a global world, with hundreds of modellers making the same model with the same colors and same result. Well done! Regards, F.
  19. Keith S, your ship looks great, and under the sunlight the colors are perfect! the details are awesome! Good work, i want to see it finished! F.
  20. Nice ships, very clean and well executed!! about Racehorse by Sergal/Mantua was another option before choice my current project, please if you take it, start a thread step-by-step i'm interesting on it 🙏😃 wellcome to this great family, F.
  21. ok thaks a lot, i think i have the same info in the kit, a bit short for me, sure i'll ask you for some questions 😅, the blog you indicated sure it's very interesting i'll see it your last photo with wheel details is wonderful, your Terror is going pretty nice!! i love your atttention to the details, sure you must to be proud of your vessel the mine is a bit stopped at this moment, between my job and my bike i have no time... maybe weekend i'll have more time take it & to upload some photos, im painting the small boats at this moment, testing paints. thanks again and regards, F.
  22. thanks a lot genocon for your comments, this models are a challenge, especially for the novels if they have no idea about wood construction, no tools, no room... the most important is no surrender and take another project, and improving each day! i'm seeing your beatiful models, your last Cutty Shark are very nice and clean, i love the planes the DC3 is wooonderful, a lot of work... keep pushing!! regards,
  23. Hi Bob, i'm from Barbastro (Huesca) so you pass across or near my village!! 😁 I hope we can travel around the world soon!! regards,
  24. hi Marco, i've located this link with a museum model ship, close in colours to your model, with a brief history: Model of the galleon '' San Luis ''. The original was a two-bridge, 80-gun ship ordered to be built by Cardenal Richelieu in the first third of the 17th century. He participated in the attack against the towns of Santoña and Laredo. Model made by Marcos Pérez Domingo. It is located in the Museum of the Royal Artillery Factory of La Cavada in the town of La Cavada, Cantabria, Spain. https://www.biodiversidadvirtual.org/etno/Maqueta-del-galeon-San-Luis-La-Cavada-img94530.html maybe it helps you, regards,
  25. hi Keith S, Ahh ok i understand the size is correct, the position has been altered slightly, ok i'll check it when y make this stage, about Paints thanks a lot for your pictures, i like the english ochre! i'm using a chocolate colour for inside parts, i'm not sure is good (it's similar to the colour used at manual), but it's done 😅 About black & White color, i want a worn finish like the pictures at occre web page, leaving small parts of the hull with less Paint; this is the final result in my mind, we'll see the end hahaha. The relationship with your wife is very beatiful, discussing the colors and finish for your ship! my girfriend only says the ships must to be burned and all floor is dirty… Sorry one more question: in my kit i only have the printed A3 with photos (9 slides more or less), but not blueprints at real scale,... in my old Constructo kit i've this blueprints and it's very useful for me, please can you confirm if they're included in the kit or not? if yes i'll contact OCCRE, they're located in Mataró (very close to Barcelona) and maybe they can send it by mail,.. keep pushing your Terror!!! 😄👍
