Hello again I have recently finished my first model hms Sherbourne which I was very pleased with the result it was ok for a first timer.
I have now just started to build my second model HMS Snake I picked this model as it has multiple masts so much more rigging and it also has a copper hull so it interested me it also has rigged cannons and a bit more detail so should be a challenge.
so I hope you all enjoy this one and any help and feed back will be appreciated no doubt I’ll be asking for advice along the way.

A lovely, smart looking Sherbourne, Liam, nice work! I hope you're doing a build log for Snake?

Thanks all for the reply I’m going to use 0.5 mm thread for it seems to look the best on the cannon itself I have another dilemma everything so far has gone to plan on the instructions till now lol 😂
while looking this up with the thread I have noticed a lot of people have used eyelets on there cannons to rig them to the hull but the plans show a 1 mm wire to be used with no loops of overhang Isit a mistake on the drawing where the wood is shows a straight wire which is what I have done but everywhere else seems to show eyelets but mine I got don’t fit the cannons ? -

Thanks for the tips I had already started but only done 3 planks each side so I can trim up the port holes and fiddle about with it till the counter comes and I can continue with the planking 👍🏻
-
Thank you I’ll give both ago and work out what is better for me 👍🏻
I have looked at other sherbourne builds all have put the counter in first but the instructions say it but a scratch build I see done it after the second planking I can’t see it causing to much of a issue

Can anyone answer a few questions for me
is it best for me to use superglue on the 2nd planking or wood glue ?
Can I start the 2nd planking without putting the stern counter on as I am still waiting for it to arrive ?
-
That is so true jon
I have sanded the hull ready for the 2nd planking !

Thanks Edward seems to be coming along nicely now this forum is good as I can relate back to other LS who have built it If I get a bit stuck 👍🏻

I have just put some filler on it and will post next when It is all sanded and ready for the next planking
according to the instructions I have to fix the stern counter next but it was missing from my kit when I ordered it along with all the cannon frames so I’m still waiting for them to arrive should be in the next 2-3 days

Yeah you are right it does I was going to do that when I get round to start the planking I over bevelled my last model and had to stick some deck planks to fill it out a bit wanted to try and avoid that this time thanks for noticing it
