jct reacted to popeye the sailor in MPC steam locomotive "The General" 1:25 scale by Popeye the Sailor - finished
morn'in..........it's another cloudy cool {below average temp} day here in the northeast. we were lov'in the '70s and '80s........but as they say 'round here, just look out the window hopefully, I can get out and mow today.......gett'in to be a jungle out there here is a better shot of the bell.......I still need to rig it.
this morning, I got out the parts for the railings that run along the boiler. I also painted the drive rods for the traction wheels.
I removed half of the sprue connections for the drive wheels......rather clean up two after painting, than four. the parts are dwindling down........a good indication that the model is almost complete. there's still the stand and the wood load to finish yet, as well as some touch ups and minor weathering that I know what to do. here is the repair on the plumbing too........daylight defeats some of the glare.......it would be better if it were sunny ⛈️
more on the progress soon thanks for look'in in!

Hi all, continued working on the little stuff...worked up the gun carriages... cut and glued up small bits for the sides, base and axles...
( lousy focus...phone cam)
and painted them all
while I was laying out all the fore deck accessories I discovered a major fubar....I drilled the foremast mounting hole to far aft...it should be where the yellow circle is. If left where it is the windlass placement will interfere with the gun carriages...guess I should have triple checked.
Plan is to fill the hole with a dowel, the windlass will cover it so hopefully it wont be to noticeable...shezz

Gonna try to chip away at the Hanna while I'm hanging out in the RV...not sue how the pics will turn out as I'm using my phone with just lighting from the dining table but we'll give it a try...
I got the base color scheme laid down...three coats on all but the black....only two needed there
still a little touch up required here and there...started working on the rudder...groves were filed for the pintles and color applied...the pintles themselves are just more of the painted strips with small bits of dowel added
Well that's all for today...may add more tomorrow, gonna depend n the weather

Paint by the pound?

I kind of did. Two boxes of something like 15 or 16 pounds of paint. Not certain exactly, maybe Denis remembers better!
