Thanks Rick, my building is nothing special. I don't believe there are 2 modelers that create alike. Being a scratch builder for the most part it's just the ability to recreate what I visualize. I've learned how to cast, mold, vacuum form, design photo etching and modify stuff to fit a purpose. In the new world 3D printing has replaced many of these processes to achieve the same results. 3D printing will open a whole new world to model building.

Thank you, I think it was the primer & final paint that made them or look thicker.

Thanks George, I've been lucky to have the ability to scratch build, recreate what I see.

Never kept track, but the full construction of this model was years. Polamer resin molds, photo etcghing, etc, finding materials, photos that I didn't have, drawing or blueprints took so much time.

The Green tanks were Oxygen, the Red tanks were Acetylene.

USS Coates (DE-685), fitting out adding some detail, making of the MK5 MWB. A basswood plug was made for the hull and insert. Used my buddy's old homemade vacuum form machine, adding some small photoetched pieces for detail.

USS Coates (DE-685), making the 5"/38 mounts, the pedestal for MT 52 was not to difficult, but for forward MT 51, an 8 year old showed me the mathmatical formula for a circle, camber, and sheer so I could make a template.... Getting some color on the forward superstructure.
