What is meant by 'status' in a persons profile?

I've bought the kit. Have the gear. Hope to share with others when I start in a few weeks. It should be a great change to the boats and planes I have made to date. I plan to weather this model as it had quite a distinguised history.

At long last I have finished this model. After all the cutting, grinding and reshaping I have finally managed to put the pieces of this jigsaw together (approx 150 hours). I would NOT recommend this kit to anyone unless you are good with metals as many of the pieces simply don't fit and you have to settle for second rate joins or try and modify the diecast and PE pieces. Looking at the images, it has come up reasonably good as it is difficult to see the problem sections!

Fokker Dr.I by PvG Aussie - Artesania Latina
PvG Aussie replied to PvG Aussie's topic in Non-ship/categorised builds
People tell me I am very patient but today I nearly gave up completely on the AL Fokker Dr1! The photographic instructions are simply not clear enough. Luckily I had a little experience to rely on. -
Artesania Latina Fokker Dr.I !!! Is it just me or do others have the unbelievable difficulties with die cast and PE pieces of this kit. +750 pieces should be a challenge, but not impossible without cutting, filing, bending and forcing into place! I would love to hear what AL have to say as I have spent about 4 hours today fitting eight die cast and PE pieces. Perhaps they should stick to ships! Peter vG

Hi Gary. Your build looks great and you seem to have fewer 'fitting problems' than I am having building the Artesania Latina Fokker Dr1. So much so that I have even considered giving up a few times. Following instructions does not seem to matter when later on you realise that things should have been done this way or that in order to make things fit. It realy is a case of two steps forward and one step back. Many pieces break off or need to be modified. I see you are progressing well and I hope you don't strike any 'tough bits' like I have. Good luck with your build. Peter Ps. This is my 6th Artesania Latina build in just over two years. All the others were ships.

A most enjoyable, challenging model for those who want to go beyond the norm. I added a seven man crew, internal, navigation and formation lights, sound for engines, sequential starting engines with rotating propellors. 500 wonderful hours to build. Fully weathered to replicate 460 Sqn 'G for George' which undertook 90 operations over Europe. Length 66cm Wingspan 98cm

Avro Lancaster Bomber by JKC27 - Border Model - 1/32
PvG Aussie replied to JKC27's topic in Non-ship/categorised builds
Great to see this amazing effort by your team. I have just completed the same Border Model Lancaster and also included the masks you show above. I added a 7 man crew, lights and sounds of engines. I'm curious to see if you decide to paint the wings before or after you attach them to the fusilage. The colours are also difficult to match up. The engines require a few decisions. Do you build the full engines or the dummies? I built the full engines and used nano magnets to be able to remove and replace the cowlings on engines 2&3. It looks good and shows off the work put into the Merlin 20 engines. I weathered everything as the plane I copied had completed 90 operations over Europe. I had an absolute ball building the Lancaster (approx 600 hours in total). I am more than happy to help as you will come across some 'fun bits'. Cheers, Peter vG
