But without work no money to buy such great kits and doing this hobby !

    @ Bob,

I have also a side build to do so now and then I'm working on the Aggy and sometimes at the Stage Coach.

    A very little update.....

I make the fenders and outside steps.
Not painted them because I want to do the other side first.
Then it will be painted and you will see the result then.

Some proof of life and work in progress....

I think I'm getting the hang of this.... I've planked both sides with required wide wale planks.  The port side has been sanded but not finish sanded.. pretty rough sanded if you ask me, but it's ready for the narrow hull planks to be laid down.  I need to sand the starboard side which should commence this afternoon... I hope.

The stern/transom area I think I have sorted out.  There's a covering piece needed and the fashion piece along the counter to the transom as well as the covering board where the transom meets the counter.  These will be finished once the planking is complete but before final sanding....

The planks look a bit damp as I've wiped them down with some water to clear off most of the sanding dust and also to help raise the grain a tad.  I've got a couple of pesky dings that need to be addressed and this is the logical (to my mind) starting point for that process.

As always, clicking on the photos will enlarge them and comments and advice are welcome.

On a side-note, I'm also developing drawings for the laser cutter to produce all the carving blanks, windows, gun carriages, carved railings, and assorted fiddly bits like the ship's boats.   Some of this stuff is just too darn tiny to cut on a scroll saw.. or I need new eyes.

Hello All, Thanks for the comments and Likes, as always very much appreciated.

One cannon Finished, As you can see what i have done with the rope rigging, I think it looks ok, as the rope would not have been left of the deck to rot.

Ill upload the other 4(that can be seen) when I have done them.

Thank you Sjors. I hope your extra hours are winding down soon. We always enjoyed the extra money when working extended hours but always happy when it ends.

Thanks for the details John. Seeing the pictures made me move seeing her in person a higher priority on my wish list.

Since my last update, I've made the following items; Captains Quarters, Companionway, Salon Skylight and Bilge pump. All four items are sitting loose on the deck, close to where they will be mounted, except for the bilge pump. The pump has a wire sticking out of the bottom and I have yet to locate and drill the hole, so for the photos below it's sitting over a mast hole.

This is the first time I sat the pump on the deck and it looks a bit too large for the scale, but I'll ck it out closer before mounting it, I hope it correct...   I tried the "typical corner joints" for the cabins as detailed by the drawings but the scale, soft basswood and my skill level simply did not work well for this type of detail, so I simply made alternating butt joints for all three cabins. I found black 0.010 mono-filament cord to use for the window bars and I used the clear plastic from a DVD case for the glass.

I'll probably hold off mounting the above until I finish the gun coils and gun jack-screws so I have plenty of room to access the gun area. Fife Rails are next on the list, along with the stern davits and catheads. I'm really procrastinating on making the jack-screws due to their being so darn small and such a pia to make, but it WILL happen, just not sure when...

    Thank you dear friends,
your words mean a lot for me and I am really very honoured. I also thank you warmly for awesome inspiration I find here in your build logs. I admire your work on ship models a lot.
Royal Caroline is my newest and concurrently best model I have built, but  I must admit, there are some of details and things, that could be made better. So I will have an occasion to find new ways, how to improve the work at my future scratch builds.Royal Caroline is exposed together with Sovereign of the seas at the nicest place in the room, where we have more than 30 ship models. This is my most favorite room in our house.

    Kind regards
    Doris

Thank you very much for your kind words, dear friends! Your support helped me a lot during the work.
What will be the next model in my shipyard? Well, now I need to have a rest, so I am going to make some plastic kits for relax - maybe La Reale de France (Heller, scale 1:75)

and also have at home small kit of Vasa/Revell - 1/150 and two battle ships from WW2 (Musashi and New Jersey, 1/350, Tamiya.
In future I am going to build HMS Sussex (probably in 1:60 scale; scratch build) from card. This could be another great project.
