Kurt Johnson got a reaction from popeye the sailor in Medieval Fortified Village by Ekis - 1/87 scratch base kit Aedes Ars
Ekis,
Do you think that a number of buildings would completely change their purpose from the intended one over the years? I would think they did. Or maybe have a collapsed or fire damaged building, or for that matter a new one under construction. Just a thought.

Kurt Johnson got a reaction from maddog33 in Medway Longboat 1742 by Chuck - FINISHED - 1/2" scale
Boy, that camera is your friend!! I’ve never seen a model look so clean and perfect. Not a smudge or scatch anywhere. Please tell me there’s a big pile of regects laying all over the floor. I don’t think a full sized boat would be able to look that fine.

Ekis, I hope you had a good vacation. That is a great kit and you have done a wonderful job . There are so many interesting subjects to build in scale. It’s nice to not be completely locked into a particular genre, as there are so many more possibilities to explore. Very nice work. I also like the photo of the original. I would love to visit the area.

Ekis,
I tried to respond to this about 3 hours ago on my IPad, typed it out hit send, and I don't know where it went because I lost my internet connection, so I'll try again.
EG is entirely correct. You were entirely correct. The only place I've actually heard the Lord's house ( with a capital L ) mentioned was actually in church and was called that by the priest or pastor conducting the service. That's why the connotation immediately came to my mind. Also, I haven't met too many actual lords around where I live, definitely in my particular neighborhood. There are some gated communities though, which I'm not allowed into so maybe some live there. I'll never know.
As far as the structure goes I guess around where I live it would probably be thought of as a noblemen's house (we don't have any of those either). I would normally think of it as a manor or mansion or an estate. Ordinary people live in a house, the gentry in something much grander. (( not that any of us is ordinary, especially you or me! (sarcasm) )).
Again, none of this was a criticism in any way.

It’s kind of humorous, in the US and I’m guessing Canada too, the Lord’s House would automatically infer a church. The L would be capitalized of course. There’s no misunderstanding your meaning though.
This isn’t a criticism.

I love the line drawings! I used to do some arcitectectural renderings ( actually modify them) when in college for an architect my best friend worked for. Naturally way before computers. I always admired how some people could make a pencil or pen create magic. My niece is extremely good at it. Actually is your own drawing done on computer? I actually had gotten Blender to try and teach myself but never went anywhere with it. Maybe I should look in to it again.

Ekis,
Once again this building appears to be the most interesting one of all. Based on your drawing of it, it would even be nice as a stand alone project, maybe in twice the scale of the village. That would be of course in addition to the present one. That would make a cool vignette. Just the buildings facade in a shadow box. I might try something like that. Not anywhere near as ambitious, but with a greater likely hood of completing it. You have got me thinking ( a very unusual occurrence to be sure.)
Do you have any particular pictures of your inspiration to show us like you did with the oven?
Looking forward to the next update.
Regards,
Kurt
