Couldn't help but add my two cents on what Boyd said..I used Bees wax on all rigging lines, served or not, because of the success I had with it on my first build, the Cuttysark, 18 years ago.  There has never been a drop of dust on any threads from day one.  True, the model is encased now but was free standing for 6 months before being covered.  My Half Moon, finished last April, has never been covered and the rigging is still dust free.  Yep, go ahead and use Bees wax...

    Hello kevin..
Just checking in to see your progress and it looks excellent.  I hope you're really enjoygf this phase because this part of the construction on the Victory really requires patience.  I really love the way you're going ; keep up the good work.

Yeah, Kevin..but you will know if you didn't do it right.  Since serving Victory I think about doing the stays and shrouds that way for every other build I take on.  I'm trying to pick my next build but have been coaching the admiral on hers.  She's building the Bounty.  One of these days I'll pick something.
    Well, talk to you soon.

    Hello Dominic..
I think that you will find the Caldercraft kit to be excellent in their selection of planking strips  (wood.)  When building my Victory the only bending assistance required was wetting.  For this I used what most other do, a long PVC capped tube.  In any event, I know you will enjoy this build: I did the entire time it took me to construct it.  I wish you the best..

    Hello Everyone..
All flags and a pennant have been hoisted on my Victory so there is nothing but a good dusting left to do.  Unfortunately the case will not be available for about four weeks so my ship will be sitting on her table collecting dust.  I know about the garbage bag cover idea but I can't bring myself to cover her up.  I plan to occassionally blow away any dust that may accumulate.

With respect to the flags, I built halyards on the aft flag staff and on each of the three top masts.  I ran the halyardfs from the tip of the mast to a point right above the top platform where a crew member could easily reach the rope to hoist or haul the flag.  I have attached some pictures that i hope will help.

It looks like at least three of us, Shipyard Sid (David), Canoe21 (Lawrence) and I,  have reached the final steps in constructiong this beautiful ship model; I hope that won't mean we're going to give up contact.  I have so much enjoyed the friends I have made on this site and the help I received from so many of them.  I don't want to lose the fun that I have had.  I wish everyone a great weekend and many happy days.

Hello Gary and many thanks for your visit and  the nice things you said about my build.  The case is 1/4" acylic, 56" wide, 43" high and 28" deep.  The back is removable (it attaches with screws) so putting the model into the case is relatively simple.  One, however, must be very careful to clear the case as it very easy to damage the "pointy thing" in the front end of the ship.  I should know....LOL... The table is a dark finished (very dark brown walnut) which was purchased from Wayfair furniture on-line.  As you can tell from the pictures in my log, there is a 3/4" square frame that is screwed into the table onto which the case fits over.  This frame keeps the case from moving in any direction once in place.  The sides and front is actually one piece formed by bending the sides to their 90 degree angles.  I installed a 4 LED lamp light strip above the case with a dimmer wall switch which gives the display a nice dramatic effect.  At least I think so.  I hope this helps you and if you'd like any more information or photos (which I'll be happy to take) please let me know.  I have attached a picture showing the lighting.  The best of luck to you with your build.

    Hello Samejia..
For a very first build, I think you are doing an excellent job.
I am concerned, however, that you have planked one entire side of the hull before starting the other side. Planking one side entirely before planking the other side can cause the hull to warp.  I hope you are going to plank the port side very soon before any warping can occur.  Normally, hulls are planked one or two strips on each side at a time.  I don't mean to be critical, just helpful.  I look forward to the rest of your build.
    Best to you,
    Jerry

Thanks to David, Shipyard Sid, I have discovered your HMS Victory site.  I hope you don't mind but I would like to follow your build, especially since the calibre of your work is top notch.  I enjoyed every minute when building my Victory and I can tell that you are also.  I wish you the best and if I can ever be of help, please let me know.

    Hello Everyone..
Well it has finally happened; the display case arrived and after breaking the "pointy thing" *   3 more times, Victory is safely sitting in its final resting place, the display case.  When the case was delivered, I anxiously watched as the delivery people placed the cover on the table.  To say I was nervous is definitely an understatement.  And sure enough as I "carefully" carried Victory toward the rear opening in the case, I hit the edge of the cover and cracked the last segment of the bowsprit.  So, I said goodbye to the delivery people, and carried the model back to my shop/office to make repairs of the bowsprit.  About an hour later everything seemed back to normal and once again I picked up the ship and as I was leaving my office, I hit a door jamb and BAM!, off went the same piece of bowsprit.  So back to the office to assess and repair the damage once more.  This time the repair was much more involved.  I had to remove 6 stays from the bowsprit, sever it completely, clean off previous glue and other gunk, repaint, replace and retie the stays.  This took about three hours.  It was now time, once more, to carry the model back to the room where the case is.  With both mine and my Admiral's fingers crossed, I managed to successfully reach the case and as I started to place  Victory into the case I hit the edge of the case and...you guessed it...knocked the "pointy thing" askew.  The repair was very easy this time, just a matter of a little CV cement and a few seconds of holding the tip in place.  All was well again and the model made it into the case without any more trouble

I truly believe that I was more nervous at this time than at any other time during the building stage but all is well and good and here some photos of the case and the ship inside.  Living in Florida, the land of sunshine, it was impossible to get a picture of the display case without the relections seen.  I'm sorry about that.

I have started  a new build, Corel's Half Moon, and its progress can be seen on my new log,
