jastrząb reacted to popeye the sailor in Santa Maria by jastrząb - FINISHED - Mantua - Scale 1:50
I hesitate to mention this.......but I think you might find this interesting. I have the Testor's decal maker - standard edition. there is a basic program out there, but you can't import images into it like this one. I import the image of what I want, size it and make the adjustments I want to do. the test here, is to run sail cloth through the printer and have the image print onto the sailcloth. so far, I have only done a few flags, but it does work. I have found that it needs to be sealed after the image is printed on.......it has to be something that will dry very quickly. the decal bonder that comes with the decal maker, seems to work the best. it's still in the R&D stage.......but it looks rather promising.
variables I've seen so far has been in the texture of the cloth......smooth VS coarse.......tight weave VS coarse weave, and what would be the effect if the cloth was lightly sealed before the image was embossed, to prevent spreading.

Previously I was painting the cannons too and the effect was "edible". I can't wait to see your painting

Today's progress on dead eyes. I used a black paint to cover the brass wire. I have just ordered a blackening liquid so I hope that the results will be btter than the paint.
I think that I have achieved my goal. The dead eyes are in the line. I tried to tie the ropes carefully looking at the book written by Lennarth Pettersen.
It takes a long time to do it. The whole outlook shows her as if she was a very old vessel. That's my point to show Santa Maria as an old ship.
Here are some pics. Enjoy
Feel free to comment. I'd like to make this bulding log alive. Help me do this please.

Hello, some of you may remember me posting this log. The kit was "inherited". My friend gave up and told he had no time to complete her.
I would like to start with the latest photos I have taken. From now on, I will be trying putting more pics for you to show the slow progress of building. I hope you 'll enjoy.

Dealing with ropes on the sail... This is my technique of dealing with knots on the ropes. If you find it useful and accurate - have fun
This way the ropes are not loose. The knots are fairly tight both ways and they keep the rope in position

a little progress... I'm proud of the eye-spliced ropes. I read that it could also be a bowline hitch.

jastrząb got a reaction from NAZGÛL in HMS Pandora by jastrząb - Constructo - 1:85
Thanks Matti and Alistair for your comments.
Matti, the modifications are: drilling out the metal cast and painting them. I want to put some transparent plastic to imitate the glass.
This scale (1:85) is really tricky. The parts are rathersmall comparing them to my Santa Maria (1:50).
Soon there will be more photos.
Thanks for commenting

A small upgrade. It's not finished yet. I'm going to add a white paint and yellow at the bottom.

Getting ready for the ratlines... I think, I didn't exaggerated with the spaces between them. In normal scale it would be every 0.5m
