JanV got a reaction from cog in Wasa 1628 by JanV - Corel - scale 1:75 - Vasa
As I am going to start with a big job in my livingroom (new floor and painting) I have made the standard as enclosed with the kit to store this kit safely during these activities. I need the workspace for my models to store and prepare paintings etc etc.
I expect to restart during my X-mas holidays but keep online regulary

in order to prepare all parts for the bow section, I figured out that the figures need to be mounted before finalizing the wooden parts.
I prepared a box to be used as spraycabine and first sprayed these items with a layer "primer". after that the basic color with normal Humbrol paint.

This evening I tried to locate all attributes on the Stockholm scale model (1:10). I am going to use this as a basis for the painting
I will print these pictures and use these as a guideline during painting
reference is made to the part numbers according the building instruction of Corel. I also marked the items in a sort box

I will try to do my upmost to get these galleries more or less equal to the original.
I realize that this will become an eyecatcher.

Edwin, thanks you are so encouraging – as always. Well there have certainly been a lot of helpful posts with us Corel Wasa builders, which may be helpful to you in circumventing some of this kits glaring errors. Thanks for following along always nice hearing from you.
Frank, thanks – I am enjoying following your new project J
Jan V. You have been busy building the longboat nice side project. I will certainly use your ideas when I get there. Thanks for your nice thoughts.
B.E. & EJ_L thanks indeed. It is certainly mutual following along with your projects as well.

Minor update: Decided on starting to build the two falconets and carriages that are at the quarter deck before moving to the mizzen mast. I’ll post some updates as they move along….
Thanks all for your kind clicks and comments,
Cheers,

Hi Mates,
Small update (well for me it’s a big one)
Finished up some detail work on the upper railings adding the look of probable attaching nails (should be painted over, but the detail look is nicer IMO)
Installed the lower main stays after putting the bits together. (Nigel – again thanks - annealing the brass rivets allowed for easier lip creation on the cut side)
Attached the shrouds along with the blocks. One issue that I had – notice the last two photos;
The 1/1 has much more rope spacing between the blocks. The 1/10th are much closer together. So took a leap and sprung the bits closer together. I think that they are too close, but so it goes.
Now onto building and installing the lower mizzenmast, and its platform.
As usual thanks so much for dropping by – always nice of you.
Cheers,

Well time for another update. I continued the work on the parts on the orlop deck. Some deckbeams have been fitted permanently and I will continue to do this as I finish hatches and gratings etc..
The positions of the 2 front masts have been fixed now and the "vissingen" have been glued in place.
From there on I will continue building all the parts on that deck and also start the deckplanking, using 2mm thick oak 9-10mm width.
very satisfied with the main knight!
I was not satisfied with the first try of a stair. The steps protruded at the front.
And the sidebeams were too thick. I adapted the mould and thickness and now I think they look good.

A little update.
I have measure the frames to see where the gun ports has to come....
It was not that easy.
On one side I've done it 3 times before I was happy.
And fingers crossed that they are on the right place.
The only thing to find out is to open the gates with a drill, knife and file......

Bob:
The wood is great quality, as is the laser cut. I guess the pre marking helps a beginner a lot. You'll have to be illiterate and blind to glue the parts in the wrong place. (I hope this comment won't jump up and bite me later on...)
Jan:
I've been thinking of one of these:
Attached the frame and supports yesterday. Der FRAU has some strange idea that I should go to bed so I didn't post them last night...
Frame #7 (the 4th frame), foremast support and bottom "deck":
Cannon deck/frame supports glued on:
She'll be one big tub, 4th frame 172 mm wide!
Next is the anchor. Instructions say to paint it "metallic grey", gives the color code RAL 5011, which is labelled "Steel blue".
I'll probably go with Admirality's matt metal black.
We'll see.
