    The last batch:

    A bag of mahogany:

    Doors, panels and steps:

    Tables and chairs:

    Closeup of the doorpanels:

    Colour scheme?:

This is the full written instructions on the left: On the right parts list.

Building plans: Quite good actually. But it feels like building a plastic kit...

    Example of the wiring plan:

And that's it from the box!

I'm quite satisfied with the quality of the kit. I don't like the plastic parts though.. The winch is made of partly white metal and partly plastic. Strange...

I don't understand why they have instructions in bad English since the kit is manufactured for Sweden. How hard can it be to translate one page of instructions (that mostly explains how to soak planks) and a few sentences scattered around in the plans...

Not that it is a problem for me personally but I know some old farts that don't understand a word English and shy away just because of that...

The LED kit is a fun extra. It usually cost SEK 180 but I got it for free. The kit cost me about €280 and that makes it a lot of ship for the money.

I have some rigging to do on another model before I start building Bohuslän. A couple of days...

    Hello Shipmates.
Thanks for your comments... Na ..  I just make things look good .

    Another update :-
Filling in all the planking on the Orlop deck at the moment and built the enclosure on the Orlop deck.
Not yet cleaned up to remove the dust and lose fibers.

Not sure that the walls are ventilated but they look nice.

Door is built up with planks and the lock is a bolt through. No idea what’s on the real one

The plank's are rounded as they are removable.
The row at the back are as yet not stained or fixed. Need to stain before fixing.

    Three rows done.

Progress is good and the Grating is made. But not cut to size yet.

    First row of the Planking.

    That’s it for Now.
    Thanks for looking in

    Regards Antony.

After a long break, work continued on the standing rigging of the foremast.

The last of the ratlines (for this project) were put in place on the fore topmast. Stays and backstays were put in according to the kit’s drawings.

A jib stay was added and put in according James Lees description ‘for smaller ships’. (No falls for the aft end of the stay and the outhauler – easier setup.)

The work continues under the watchful eye of the captain

    Topmast stay tackle

    Fore top

The block stropped to the starboard side of the fore topmast cap caries the jib stay

Traveller with jib stay and out hauler. The single block on the traveller is for the downhauler of the jib.

    The standing rigging nears completion

    Hello all,

The pintles are now finished, blackened and glued in place on the rudder. I've decided to use small nails to attach them instead of brass wire with a rounded or flattened end.

The head of the smallest nails I had, were too big and didn't had uniform size so I had to put them in the lathe to try to make them nicer. In the end I just used a small file to get the size while spinning in the lathe chuck because when I tried to machine them they broke.

After that I blackened them and cut a bit from the length and drive them through the pintle straps holes with a small hammer and a small drop of CA glue. Think this way they will hold strong enough.

Next I moved to the gudgeons. These I make from thin strips of brass bended to shape (not cut to shape from thicker brass like the pintles). A small piece of brass tubing is silver soldered on the middle of the strap then the strap is bended to follow the shape of the hull at the corresponding place. Next, holes are drilled and the piece is cleaned and blackened with JAX.

I've already done the first from the top as you can see in the pictures. There is a bit of scratching of the hull but I will retouch it with a bit of varnish when I am done with it. Here too I am using the same nails but without cutting them as the hull is thick enough.

On the unplanned side I decided not to put a piece of plank under the strap but to make the straps asymmetrical a bit to fit in place.

    Regards,
    Alexandru

I’ve installed the gun deck clamps now and have started on the beams.

Here you see the plans of what the gun deck will hopefully look like once completed.

Here you see the beams set temporarily in place and marked out for the placement
of various carlings, beams and half beams.

Here is a beam the goes between two deck beam, # 3 & 5 as well as the half beam.

And here it is set in place.

I will just work my way from one end to the other filling in the carlings, ledges and knees as I go.

    Hi Guys,

Here are a few pics of the progress so far, not that much to see but at least you will know where I am.

Thanks Grant for the positive remarks on the alignment of the masts, I was a bit worried.

    Masts dry fitted

Underside of the main fighting top, I extended the length to reduce clutter, I hope. Also the mast cap with sister or long blocks

    Topside of main fighting top

Underside of partly blocked fore mast also mast cap with sister or long blocks

Topside of fore mast fighting tops

So that's it guys, now you know exactly where I am.

    Be Good

    Hi

As can be seen in photograph 1 the anchors and anchor cables have been completed and installed.
You may also notice that I have also installed some cat falls which were not on the plans but have been made to the same design as those on my model of the bomb vessel Granado.

Photograph 2 shows how the anchor cable has been arranged. Again this has been copied from Granado. The plans suggested coiling the cables flat just aft of the windlass but I thought that since Bounty's anchor cables were 600 ft long this seemed a bit unrealistic. I couldn't find any information on how the cables were fed to the cable tier but know this was somewhere in the hold. I have noticed several versions show the openings in the corner of the main hatch so have stuck to this.

I have now started on the masts and spars but will leave progress until next time.
