Ok, rats are done on starboard side.. reasonably happy with it, oh ok... I cant complain for a first go

It's not as easy as one would like and i'm sure it will go smoother on second run..

I was brave enough to throw in a macro..  Black card helps find the fuzzy bits...
best if you dont use waterbased marker to mark out card, it runs when glueng..

I have a grip on the cow and clove hitch now, handy to know..   I used the principle of doing every forth run and then coming back to fill in..  Ollie

All of the "standard" frames are now fitted.  The next job will be to fit some stringers to stiffen up the hull before I tackle the stern framing.  The first of the stringers - the deck clamps - have been roughed out and roughly bent ready for fitting.  Once they're in another set of stringers will be fitted along the turn of the bilge (roughly), then the next job will be to work out the stern framing.

Thanks Geoff, i got a close watch on your sloop also.. shes looking great

Ken, thanks for that link and input. I also like the natural timber look and use contrasts and the timbers colour to represent. I will likely go this way..

Thanks Karl and Johnroy. Hello from over here in the land down under!

Greg and Pat, I chose this AL kit after seeing both of your beautiful builds and reading good things, inspiring and great work, its a shame so much of logs were lost..  I will be lurking on your logs dont you worry

John, thanks as always and i will be pestering you no doubt and am due for a trip to Syd soon..

Alistair, yeah im coming out of hiding....  I think i got a bargain..  I will take you and Pat's advice, get some holly and check it out, sounds nice.. working with quality wood is so much nicer.

Steve, nice to have you here mate.. Thanks for that info, Its so good to have others who have built the same kit..     Its certainly held up well for its time shelved..

I'm mainly going to be planning for the first month and get in the rhythm of ordering gear in advance. we have no hobby shop here..

    Warm regards to all. Ollie

    Hi Ollie,
It'll be a great build, I'm sure. I've pulled my chair up next to Geoff to follow your build.

    Hi Ollie,

No worries for you I am sure. You are greatly skilled, gifted, and quite knowledgeable, and I will look forward to watching your build mature into the beauty the Endeavour truly is. As a pen & ink artist, this was one of my favorites I rendered....along with the USS Constitution and the HMS Victory. I rendered approximately 15 vessels in several years in pointillism. Well, keep in touch, and best wishes to you and your Endeavour........

Ok gang! That is it for the HM Mermaid

If i muck around with anything else i will damage things in the pursuit of 'tidying up'..  Im a little haphazard with rigging.. It was a bit of a battle at the end..

Ok so I have rattled off a bunch of pics and i will try some more on a sunny day, the overcast light does work well though, a couple of these are indoor under lights...     Ollie

A couple of photos showing the work mentioned in my previous post. Lots of work to do but looking a bit better this morning. I will continue to post my progress later. Need more work completed on main deck aft and to the right.
