Photo Time.. WooHoo  (I know I know, I really spoil ye..  )

The Stern Post is in place, and the Hull is pretty much finished with sanding (it might get the odd gentle rub as I progress though)

You can see the Hawse Hole (where the Anchor Rope would go through the hull) re-enforcing I put in place, it isn't called for in the 'Plans' but I kinda figured it to be an area that would have been built up to combat wear 'n tear ! it hasn't been fully shaped & filed totally smooth yet .

The Wales are made from  2@  3 x 1 mm Beech lengths I had in stock, and will ultimately be painted black. The wale hasn't been shaped properly at the stern yet, but isn't too far off (possibly a little filling required at the very after-most part to blend it into the transom)

See I haven't been slacking off.. much..

    Take Care Folks

    Eamonn
PS Still no Deck Timber.. and it was sent this day last week, fingers crossed for next week then

Thanks so much gang I have been planning masts and have shaped the bowsprit.. I have tidied some blocks, jeez they are a bit rough. But I can't throw everything out can I.. only thing I can't tidy is some of the holes are way out, but they look okay when all done I think . Added hooks to a couple for anchor and such..

I decided tonight after two ales I shouldn't do any work tonight, I feel thats my limit, else it all gets messy

Eamm, my mess was evolving nicely, did a tidy up today and settling into the work zone.. It's ok.

Mast questions coming soon... Thanks for looking all.. Regards ollie

    On special request

Underneath more detailed the process I used for my single block rigging

    overhand knot

Tighten & positioning of the knot  (i use sharp pointed tweezers for this task)

securing the knot with CA glue

Cutting off the not needed thread

Winding 2,5 times the knot around the rope (picture shows 1,5 times)  I used CA glue to simulate this, This task demands both hands to keep the thread tight & around the rope

Again using CA glue to keep the thread secured between the ropes (and using a scalpel to trim the thread & rope)

In more detail the rigging of both blocks

This is pretty much the end result

Thanks everyone.. I decided to tackle these cleats... Made up five after work.. About an hours work.. I had some 3x2 walnut and it suited for a uniform stock.. I basically just Cyano glued them to the stock walnut as a template and used a sharp knife and filed and dremelled.. Pretty happy with the result... Added two to the stern davits. Small steps... Ollie

I started this model about three weeks ago. So far not many problems as the book provided with the kit was very helpful. I'm ready to paint and have applied a sanding sealer. I'd like to know if acrylics are OK to use for the model.

Here is what it looks like so far:

    Thanks for any info.

This time I had to make syre  the forms were seated proper and square. Then test fit the decks before I go any further.  So far everything seems okay and aligned properly.

Thanks so much gang. Yes tom learning lots.!

So I forgot about hours tally..
    Adding 50 hrs approx.

I have my skylight done. The panes work out to about 5-6 inches scaled up.

I decided to use some 2mm glass I had. Looks ok and I know it won't yellow or become brittle as plastics may over time..

The metal bars equate to 0.1 mm at this scale so a detail that has to be left off I think. Regards Oliver

Thanks so.much.gang Eamm,. I'm doing that pointy out front thing. I.think it's for jousting... Delving into more unknown territory... Rigging!
I tapered the bowsprit and fitted into.the.groove at bow. Trying to.keep the angle low. Instructions say.about 5 degree rises.. Ollie
