the swivel gunposts are shaped octogonal in the upper post-portions and the Ends secured with a metal ring.
The guns still Need to get handles to operate...

the metal gunpost rings shall sit slightly above the roughtree rail when it is mounted

Here a short update on the assembly Arrangement..

I am thinking of doing some structuring to the raw swivel gunposts

would have to tacle guns and anchor cables, all that goes underneath the Quarterdeck before putting it on permanently, am always a bit anxious that something could be forgotten to Mount as Long as there is Access there

would now Need to get the forecastle assembly Status to the same Level..

Finally some outside planking going on. I am starting with the easy part, the outer plank sheer and planks to the main rail. I installed the plank sheer in a couple of pieces, with a single piece wrapped around the bow. I first soaked and bent it around the bow and then glued it after it had dried in place. In these pictures the plank sheer is being glued on except the bow, which is being bent and drying.

At this point I realized that I had not added the back pieces for the quarter galleries, so I dug the laser cut top pieces out and made the two bottom pieces. I bevelled the edges of these to fit together at the angle of the knuckle in the transom. As I was dry fitting them, I came to the conclusion that the bulwarks were too high at the transom. I used a steel ruler to extend the tops of the solid pieces along the sides to the transom and and marked this as the top. The backs fit perfectly then, but I had to trim off some of the last bulwark pieces at the transom, which I was able to do with a razor saw and some sanding. I then just had to extend the slot for the stern bumpkins. The rear sieves are now much closer to the top rail, but looking back on the plans and pictures of the actual ship, they are just under the rail, so it is all good.

I needed a way to secure the gallery backs so they would be flush with the transom and stay at the right height while the glue dried, so I clamped a couple of planks to the transom that I could clamp the backs to. Here are the backs being glued in place:

The bottom pieces I just held in place while the glue tacked up.

Here are more planks being applied between the spar deck gun ports. This shot has almost all of the clothes pin clamps I have being utilized:

For the pieces that I need to curve around the bow, using the model itself was not satisfactory as there is no solid piece across the bow curve at this level, so the next piece I bent came out too flat in the front. I was going to make a solid block the same shape as the bow, but just happened to see a set up yesterday in Hipexec's build log (thanks Rich) that was much easier, using push pins to define the shape and hold the planks. I had some balsa sheet that I used as the base and traced the bow from the plans to it, then added push pins to hold a soaked plank:

We will see tonight how well this matches the actual bow, but it should be close.

I first started by laying out the keel on 1/8" X 4" X 12" basswood in the same fashion that I lofted the drawing ( this way I could double check my Math ) I then laid out the Stern Post and Cockpit Floor wich is 1' - 0 " ( scale ) lower than the Buzzards Bay 14 ftr. This was one of the things that I wanted to do differently while building the Buzzards Bay 14 ftr. The other thing, was that I made sure that I figured in the notch on the Stern Post for the Transom . Then I cut it out,  squared it up  and made a building Jig . I then layed out the Frames and then cut them out. These are the same size Frames as the Buzzards Bay 14 ftr .( I have not changed the offset table just the frame spacing ) Here are the results

This Morning I awoke 3 hours earlier than normal for me. ( this is either a Good thing or not ) I choose for it to be a good thing. I decided to put my theory to the test by build a Proto-type Herreshoff 12 1/2 , at 3/4" = 1' - 0 "using the L. Francis Herreshoff Buzzards Bay 14 ftr as a base line, in wich He had lengthend his Fathers version of the 12 1/2 with the same beam, I decided to shorten the frame spacing from 18" to 16" thus giving me a 12' - 6" waterline .(reversing what L. Francis had done ) and in theory giving me the original 12 1/2 . I am using the Herreshoff Buzzards Bay 14 ftr plans as well as photos and other information that I have gathered as my reference's. Here are some pic's of what I am going for. I feel pretty good about this build

You are making one very sweet ride, Pete! Love how the planking turned out.
Are you going to replicate the vertical planking in the cockpit?

Edit:  Actually, looking at the photo a bit closer, it looks like strakes or battens in the cockpit sides...

It was the bilge area I was talking about.  Herreschoft hulls were nice but you had to be very good at your craft to build them.

Today I started by Building a cradle , while I pre soaked the material to finish the planking. Once the cradle was built I finished up the planking, athen I finished rough Fairing the hull. next it will need to be sanded with 600 grit, to get it ready for epoxy . I am very pleased with this build as it has been a challenge. Here are the results

Today, I finished the Cockpit floor , first I cut out Birch ply for the bench supports and stained them cherry . Next was to cut out the Deck hatches on the fish well deck . then I cut out more birch strips for the deck . I installed the bench supports and installed the birch strips on the fish well deck .I sanded the Cabin top to get it ready for a second coat . I like how this has turned out Here are the results

On Keel # 4 Today, I started by shaping the Mast and fitting it. I decided to add a square piece of Birch Ply as a Mast step. I then stained the Birch on the Cockpit face , Cabin entry and the companion way rails a Cherry . On the Cockpit floor I made a new Hatch cover ( I didnt like the first one ) Laid out the Deck for the cut outs ( I will do the Fish well deck the same as the Cockpit floor ) Then Painted the Cabin top a gloss white. Your hull looks great.  It has that unique look that I like.  I still think planking that hull must have been trouble.

I have to echo the previous comments regarding the sweet lines of this beauty. I do have a question regarding the transom it looks a bit odd sticking up above the planking is that the way it will look when finished? I ask this because of the picture that Rick posted of his boat.

Today, I thought I would finish Planking the Herreshoff, However I realized that I did not cut in the 1/8" for the Transom. I decided that I would add a 1/8" X 1/8" strip  to the stern of the Keel, and move my Rabbet line 1/8" aft. That is somthing that I will remember for the next one ( and there will be a next one ) there are already a few things that I would do differently. ( That will be for the next build log ) Anyway I then started soaking my planking material while I finished shaping the sheer line ( I am pleased with the result ) It matches the Print . the Planking went smooth and all the seams are nice and tight. I did a good amount of Fairing . Next will be to finish the Planking and build a Cradle . I have had alot of fun building this boat ( my favorite so far ) and aside from the transom sticking out an extra 1/8" ( or the boat being 1/8" too long ) the rest of it is right on the money. Here are the results
