Omega1234 got a reaction from Archi in ROYAL CAROLINE 1749 by Doris - 1:40 - CARD
Hi 8sillones
I don't want to hijack Doris' thread, but, my word, what a beautiful model you've built!
Would you be willing to post some more photos in the Gallery for us to enjoy?
Thanks

Omega1234 got a reaction from MarcusLopes in Rainbow by Omega1234 - FINISHED - J-Class Racing Yacht
Hi everyone
Thanks for all your Likes, comments and compliments.
Tonight, I had a go at the ship's wheel and the tiny handrails above the main cabin's roof. I hope the photos can show these details clearly enough, but anyhow, here they are.
Hope you enjoy the photos.
All the best

Hi everyone
Many, many thanks to everyone for all your comments, Likes and encouragement!
Over the past few days, Rainbow has gained a few things. Firstly a rudder, then her auxiliary motor's propeller and most importantly, a brand spanking new mast and boom!!!!
The mast and boom, of course need heaps of work before they look the part, but it's a start.
I hope you enjoy the photos below.
Cheers and all the best!

Hi everyone.
Many thanks for your Likes and comments.
Igor and Dennis - I decided to leave the coaming off the floor of the cabin because it would be hard to see it anyway, but thanks for your feedback and suggestions.
I've done a bit more work on the cabin and here're the results of it temporarily (and crookedly) sitting in the hull.
Hope you enjoy them!
All the best

Omega1234 got a reaction from Harvey Golden in Axopar 37 Cross Cabin by Omega1234 (Patrick Taylor) - FINISHED - Scale 1:64 (approximately)
Hi folks. Earlier this year (2024), my son-in-law and his brother, bought a full sized Axopar 37 Cross Cabin boat. As soon as I saw it, I suddenly got the urge to scratch build a miniature version of the boat as a surprise gift for him.
I built it to a scale of 1:64 which equated to a hull length of approximately 18 cms. I also detailed the interior of the boat (as can be witnessed by the removable superstructure).
The hull was carved from wood, while the superstructure is made from styrene. Das modelling clay was used to simulate the upholstery in the main cabin, below deck as well as the seating are in the bow.
I hope you like it!

Adding the pennants. I had to revise the pennants - the "staffs" were made of bits of a weed growing across the road - circular section, beautifully thin - ready-made staffs! Unfortunately the glue wouldn't stick to them (I think they have a waxy surface), so right in the middle of things the pennant would come adrift from its staff. So I made replacements out of wood. Much more work, but the glue stuck to them.
I glued a bit of cotton to each fighting top, then put a short loop of cotton from one end of the "flagstaff" to the other. Then soaked the loop with a weak mix of PVA (white) glue and water., and hung the loop from the aforementioned bit of cotton attached to the fighting top and added weights, so the loop became a triangular shape.
Then I scrunched up the pennant so it looked like the wind was blowing it, and added a dab of PVA glue wherever the pennant crossed the rigging, to keep it in place (otherwise gravity would take over and it would hang unnaturally). The one below had to be clamped as well - it kept sagging off the rigging.
By the way, no captain in his right mind would have these huge things flapping around while the ship was under way. They'd get in the way horribly, and could even knock sailors off the rigging.
Antepenultimate* pennant added:
And - FINISHED!

Omega1234 got a reaction from Story in Coastal Barge by Story - FINISHED - 1/96th (15mm) - PLASTIC - WWII-era Japanese 'Steel Truck'
Hi Story
First of all - Welcome to MSW!
I can see why you're drawn to these sorts of ships - they had loads of character and atmosphere, not to mention they lend themselves beautifully to adding lots of fine details, (especially at the scale that you're building at).
I reckon you're doing a great job.
Here's looking forward to seeing more of your models in the future.
Cheers

Hi Jerry
Many thanks for posting the photo as well. I don't about you, but I was always impatient to get my RC ships into the water too. I had jury rigged them and before I knew it, they were christened by salt water. I look forward to seeing your ship coming to life.
All the best and happy sailing!

Omega1234 got a reaction from BrochBoating in Majestic by Omega1234 - Mega Yacht - miniature
Hi Folks! I just thought I’d share my latest miniature model called “Majestic”. My model is based upon an actual boat design known as the Wider 150 (https://boutiqueboats.com.au/vessel/wider-150/). After a long break from building, I’ve recently managed to get back into working on this model. Whilst most of the work lately has concentrated on sanding and painting the hull, as well as adding more interior details such as the bathrooms, pillows on beds and pot plants scattered throughout various parts of the accommodation, I acknowledge that most of it is too small to see and appreciate. What can easily be seen, though, is that I’ve added the ‘water’ to the aft wet dock into which the ship’s tender is moored when underway. I hope you like where things are at so far! Cheers Patrick

Omega1234 got a reaction from BrochBoating in Splendid by Omega1234 - Scale 1:500 - Mega Yacht
Happy New Year, folks! Here’s my latest update of Splendid. Most of the accommodation across her six decks have been completed, but lots of work still remains; particularly in her two-decked engine room.
I hope you like where things are so far.
Cheers
