  1. Congratulations! Your customer file now shows a 10% discount on the next kit you buy from us. Nic
  2. regarding rudder throw - either go further out on the servo arm or closer in at the rudder arm. Or both! Nic
  3. noted modeler Steve Wheeler once said "the wastebasket is your best tool" Nic
  4. The answer is yes to all options. There is usually more than one way to achieve a goal. Nic
  5. The pins would be used to help fasten the carriages to the deck. The most logical placement would be through the crossbar at the rear, below where the quoin goes. Nic PS - The quoin is a wedge shaped piece with a handle, used to fine adjust the angle of the cannon.
  6. So photos can be deceiving. If the real guns were blackened, then I'd say your blackening would be accurate. Nic
  7. To my eyes, Avi's pix of the real cannon look very dark gray as opposed to flat black. Then there is the "scale effect" of distance, which means the further away you are, the more washed out colors become. People looking at your model from 2 feet away is like looking at the real thing from 20 feet away. Nic
  8. Hi, That kit you bought in September 2021 was from the estate of a good customer of ours, Dr. Jack McD. who passed away and his wife wanted us to disburse his hobby stuff. When you finish this build thread, you will get a 10% discount on the next kit you buy from us. Nic
  9. Yes, the toner works great 10:1 is recommended, but it can be stronger or weaker, it just changes how long it takes. After rinsing and drying, a coat of flat clear will preserve the finish. It is kinda like rust, in that it can rub off with handling.

  11. One thing about modeling - it doesn't have to mimic the full size, just LOOK like the full size. I agree with some thin material and pinning the rudder. The rest of your build is excellent, BTW Nic
  12. Yes, we sell true silkspan, lite grade. It does have a "grain" which means it tears differently in one direction vs the other. This is important when you layer several sheets, you must alternate the orientation. Nic
