  2. as for the build, i am making progress albeit very slow, this morning i made up 6 lengths or rope in two sizes, some soldering and shaping a few blocks, i wish i knew the names of the ropes im putting in, oh and some German, as all my dropbox contents are gobblygook to me
  3. Good evening everyone the wood arrives tomorrow, so i will be away from the build until the cabinet is up and running, i have two weeks to get it done, and i have have changed my mind so many times on how to do it, i dont have a way ahead the acrylic sheets arrived at the weekend, broken, they are being replaced and i have been told to keep them and dispose of or use as i see fit sized 900x1800, possible 1/5 has been lost, so i will be making good use of them
  4. i was building this and just got bored with it, it now sits on the shelf of doom, i presume it is because i could not live upto the standards i was following by @Toolmaker, and the pure dread that i would have to break out the airbrush
  5. well thats another build missed by me, sorry im so late to the party, wrapped up in my many other things lovely to see something different
  6. the display area on the left will be any hobby related bits, with the exception of tools on the right will be the big cabinet to keep the builds dust free before, the garage has Been a dumping ground for the last couple of years the cabinets have been resorted and the worktop cut back
  7. Good morning everyone planning for the display area is still ongoing it seams i will have a area approx 2.3m x 1m x 2.3 so some of the larger vessels like the st Nectan will have to be displayed at an angle yesterday i learnt how to use the @Alexey Domanoff rope maker and have now started to get some nice results, using Guttermans Mara threads and serpia ink its attached to one of the roof beams, i will try for a better photo im using 4 sizes of thread 30, 70, 100, and 120 ( 30 is the largest i have) im using 4 sizes of thread 30, 70, 100, and 120 ( 30 is the largest i have) and some of the results including using some of the many different kit ropes i have
  8. Mark its making my eyes water just thinking about having something removed from between the logs perhaps saw the easy bits and then file the rest out
  9. good evening everyone over the last week i have been ensuring everything fits and works as it is meant to,ie that most of the brackets and blocks etc will be in the right place so yesterday i salvaged the chains, painted them and set them in place, they look ok to me, time will tell if they are actually where they need to be over the next week i am going to plan the new display area in the garage and learn to use the @Alexey Domanoff rope walk
  10. just caught up Keith, what a lovely build you have going there, im sure there will be a accurate rigging plan somewhere, lol no doubt it will be found when its to late
  11. sorry i missed the update, i have been so engrossed in my own AV project, she looks great, lol perhaps i should have stuck to the original colours
  12. yes the whole lot will be removed when im sure everything is in the right place, now the dolphin striker has been pulled forward the ones behind are too tight now, bear with me
  13. Good evening everyone its that stage of the build where i am worried i am going to go out of my depth, i have no decent instructions, i have a rigging plan but no idea what size threads to use no sail plan but 30 odd sails to make and im absolutely loving it i noticed that the build i am following had a lot of changes made during this stage onwards, where things had to be moved/adapted to get the rigging done, i certainly wont avoid that, but i am aware of it hence some items are still removable on the forecastle, to this end i have proceeded with the bowsprit the chain i am using is 1.5 and 2mm jewellery chain, this will be pained later on, in these colours it looks like a cheap toy yes i am making more work for myself but my plan is to proceed with that ever i have in my rigging threads, and see how it goes, then replace with my home made ropes, and tumbled blocks this will keep my interest going and allow me to show my mistakes as i go along all the fittings being used now are now scratched, from 1.5mm brass tube and .4 brass wire, soldered where necessary please feel free to scream at me if you see anything wrong, or better ways of doing things question what comes first, the chains or the stays
