That fore deck is starting to look very busy, Kevin.

good evening everyone
the fish pond slats have still to be stained, but the gutter boards are now fitted and for the photo i have just placed the bits and pieces in roughly where they are to be fitted, bu at present i am missing a piece the seals the stbd bulkhead under the waleback, which is a real pain as i have been looking for a week now
i cannot remember what these are
and this was made up

good morning my friend, lovely to catch up on your build, they look great
i think i retired at the wrong time, perhaps you can blame me for the world falling apart, because ever since the end on Jan it has
here in the UK, it has been very interesting watching how our government has handled the plague, lots has been done to support a vast majority of workers, and support shown for all the front line services
Its a strange world, but for the first time in my life i am getting board of the BBC news reporters and there interpretation of events, LOL they had 3 years of Brexit and telling us how it could not be done, and it was, and since then they have not been able to report on anything apart from the weather and the corvid outbreak, telling us that this or that is not going to work and it has
i quess that if i was working, i would be less aware of what was going on, rather than hearing or seeing updates every 2 minutes,
still i am getting my build done, DIY continues, weather is fantastic for gardening, plenty to eat and drink, so for me a day in retirement, is no different to being retired

Good evening everyone
made a very stupid mistake today, whilst doing the photo shoot, the light breeze took the build for a flying lesson, did a little damage, you can see it in the photo on the capping rail port side by the yellow cod liver oil house, I was lucky to get away with it, because 30 seconds later it would have had the superstructure on
anyway the hull looks ok now, it is very nearly the same on both sides, the admiral didnt notice it, and anyway one side will never be seen again when in the diorama
so here are a few photos taken today post flying lesson
and another lesson learnt today, is acrylics do not adhere to silver oxcide spray paint, hence the whale back is looking patchy, lol i like the look

good evening everyone
left the diorama for a while, i have a build to do as well
the hull is getting some attention now, starting with the after capping rail, i have still to adjust it width wise where the rail leave the rounded part of the cod liver house, but will be done as the next part is made up
and today she saw her first coats of paint on the hull, i can now see the areas that need work doing on it

lol OC this is your fault
i have now decided on how to display the build
how do you intend to display the build kevin? i hear you ask
well in a diorama of course
here are a couple of ideas i have
version 1
in this version i like the right hand side idea, of the vessels tied up against a wall
these two appeal to me, may be a combination of the lot
any other ideas will be accepted. i will have about 6 foot by 4 foot and plenty of height to play with

Good afternoon everyone
been thinking of how to display this 6 foot monster, and what configuration i would like to display, any ideas gratefully accepted
anyway with that in mind, i did a few detail bits
made the lockers look like they opened, still to be painted
a stash of barrels
and the ash chutes are fixed into position

Fish Ponds
well that took a lot longer than anticipated, about 150 cuts of strip wood, took me most of the day, but for now it looks ok.
I still gave to adapt the bottom board to sit tight to the deck, and then see if i can simulate handles, or cut slots out to enable lifting, and then weather, and put back into the same position they were removed from, Real world DIY tomorrow so hopefully by the weekend

as i try to close the stern off, adding blocks and now the Gallows, which were build up quite a while ago, the basic unit is secured into position and at present i am making the retaining bars from brass rod, i was undecided what base colour to use, but went safe and used black

good evening everyone
i see light at the end of the tunnel with this build, oh no its a train coming the opposite way,
its not a race, but i anticipate a end of may completion for her and during that time i will continue the diorama setting
i have reworked some of the after deck detail, and adjusting the bulkheads that fit under the whale back, lighting being tested and generally enjoying myself, im not getting fantastic long periods done at a time, but what i do get is quality time, and that for me is everything, i think i better start looking for the rudder and prop

good evening everyone,i hope everyone is well and safe, Happy Easter,
the capping completed and foredeck is now in position, i should have left it another day, but changed my plans on the way ahead as i seam to be torn between the chicken and the egg. i cannot progress the deck with out doing the hull, and the hull is to big to move around to progress the deck with out scratching anything. but in the end, the hull won
the whaleback has had a coat of primer then aluminium oxide. and yellow ochre. the hull has been sanded and sanded, where to a stage it will have to do,
the red is Halfords Rattle can Red Primer, and the same brand Matt Black for the top of the hull, there is a lot of over-spray onto the red but it needs another coat

lots of ideas for the diorama, but i may start a new thread for that, so i can attack some comments, who dont see my long build lpgs
but for now i have got a boat to build and finish,
the radar mast got some attention today, the radar will have to be removed in the future
quite a lot has changed since the mast as completed
painted silver with a black wash over the top
the radar dish is from the kit, will one day put something in its place that looks like one
