    Hello stan ;

I usually use 4mm plywood. It's easy to find and cheaper than other thicknesses. 3mm or 4 mm will be fine guess. Hm?

Thanks to all of you - I'll begin with somethine quite primitive... the building yard board. Just glueing the waterline and inverted waterline drawing together to know where the sections have to been put.

    But this'll be tomorrows work.

What would be the best plywood thickness to buy fore the backbone and formers-bulkheads?

Well I am sure glad that you decided to wreck your model rather than continue with something you didn't enjoy and let the model wreck your love for the hobby!

    I can't wait to follow No. 2!

p.s.  If it is any consolation, this log and the sad ending gives us beginners enormous confidence in seeing that problems can happen to much much much more experienced modellers

Well, not much to the finish..

From now things are getting complicated.. Used varnish for table..

And use PVA for assembling sides and table..

Started to make holder for the rail car. Plywood has nice pattern, so made sandwich from 4mm Plywood.

I always say that I like sanding.. But this one forced even me.

Ps. Image sizes are better this way I guess.. Isn't it ?

Today worked lot. A couple hours of sanding here's our holder.

Started to looking good for me
By the way, I'm cleaning my sand papers and sand sticks with an hard eraser. It's very handy. I have using this stick for a long long time. Is theere any other way ? If so, please let me know     Yes, that's what I wanted to see for now.. Not bad and comfortable       Again?! I didn't like when becoming together.. Have to do something for rail car too. Tomorrow.

Sure, will post how it works soon Christian..

Actually orginal photos of the idea are these..

So, here are the progress. After this, all steps are for good looking and fantasy
I saw this technique in Remco's HMS Kingfisher's log. Just wanted to give it a try. And the result is awesome. Especially, on irregular surfaces.      Will add some mahogany as a frame..       Scratched sides for frame.     Last view..        And this was fun.. Added some brass to the pointer. Just fantasy

And from now, it's just about to good looking.

First, making Angle Markers. Will use 2cm brass for 90, 45 degrees. And 1 cm for 15, 30 and 60 degrees.

    Marked base for brass.

    Glued..

    Erasing curves from brass wire.

    After drying, sanding with files.

Well, I think not bad for now..

    Will continue tomorrow..

Yesterday I found (America) that acrylic paint consumes very thin paintbrush. One day you just discover that the brush stops to listen your commands and follow your will, and become willful. Under magnifier you can clearly see what happened. You can do everything from yourself in mercilessly washing and cleaning paintbrush after every step in painting, but invisible particles of colour always remain in root of paintbrush, and as time go by, make paintbrush unusable for precise painting (hairs begin to curve in different directions, and nice top of paintbrush does not exist any more, and there is no way to form it again)

So I finished painting with black colour, and decide to leave painting of white square rail for latter ( when I bye new thin paintbrush). Also other two rails is better to paint when finish with cleaning and mounting bulwark with panels and dead-eye holder ( same colour of teak), so I climb on the deck and start cleaning job, removing putty and traces of glue

Very usefull tool for this job is dental tools, as for instance,

I do not have it, and must improvise making jig from needles ( one streight and other curved on top)

Also a little "rasp" for fine cleaning, with amendable little pieces of sandpaper with different granulation

Oh, messy Nenad, this will quite a job to entertain yourself a long time ...

And another thing for continious taking care of I discover: Do not lay your whole left arm on your model while doing this !!! She do not like that !!!!
