Bugra got a reaction from mtaylor in Manual Angle Sander ( Finished )
Hello Everyone ;
Beside ship modelling, I love to make something useful for myself from wood. So, I needed an angle sander for Taka's windows. I have a disc sander but, really I don't like it. Guess, I like to make it harder way..
So, here is the progress ..
First of all, I really don't know why, made a sides of box. Used 4mm plywood.
When dried, determinated rail way.. And glued.
Carving sanding car for rails.
Left and right side of the sanding car.
Looking like
Glued second platform of the rails.

Marked first floor of rails.
This is better. Have much more easier pushing.
Marked angle lines.
Again.. Marked lines for ruler and cut
Started to making angle pointer. Marked and drilled.
Shaping pointer.
Just simple for now..

And from now, it's just about to good looking.
First, making Angle Markers. Will use 2cm brass for 90, 45 degrees. And 1 cm for 15, 30 and 60 degrees.
Marked base for brass.
Glued..
Erasing curves from brass wire.
After drying, sanding with files.
Well, I think not bad for now..
Will continue tomorrow..

Bugra reacted to Keith_W in If you were allowed only one power tool - what would it be?
Heh, maybe I should say "vacuum cleaner"
I built my very first model without any power tools. All I had was a box cutter, some surgical tools, sandpaper, and a file. And, I did this in a tiny apartment. I managed OK - but if I did not have a vac cleaner, my wife would have killed me!

Not as versatile but convertible from Lathe/mill/drill and very, very much smaller...

Bugra reacted to Kerry in How to rectify bulkhead errors?
Hi
I had similer issues - i was able to fix it by adding extra wood to the frame but as I was double planking it was well coverd
- it all depends on if you whish to start pulling apart the work you have completed so far or the finiish you require on the planking intend.
- (its all an education nomatter how expensive a hobby)
