  1. The rope for the rigging is made from DMC cotton thread on a ME rope walk about the same vintage as Gene’s it ain’t pretty but gets the job done. I added the crowfeet and euphroe to the top before stepping the main mast.
  2. Thanks Nils, I think on my next model I will leave more of the planking off to show more of the internal details like the stove and great room. Mike
  3. Jeff has finished the drawings and is working on a building guide. He plans to finish it next month. He has been very busy on his ‘day job’ and will finish the guide as soon as he can Mike
  4. Hi Patrick, You have an amazing amount of detail in a ship that small. I built one at 1/48 scale and had trouble with my big fingers and the small parts. You have probably noticed a lot of the details in the AOS book have the wrong scale in the description just use your best judgment as to the size of the parts. Mike
  5. Hi Patrick, The Pandora is an interesting build. What is the scale and what kind of wood did you use for the framing? She is looking very good. Mike
  6. The drawings have good details for the masts and tops. I started with the tops then built the masts. The masts are built but I am going to add the guns and other deck items before stepping them.
  7. The deadeyes and chainplates have been added to the channels. The plans provide a template for the main channels showing eight shrouds but the rigging plan only shows seven. I am going to use eight.
  8. Hi Pathfinder, The Washington is a lot of fun to build and results in a respectable model. I am glad you like my model. Jeff has been busy at his ‘day job’ and working on the plans. More information will be coming later. You will be amazed at the amount of details in the drawings. Mike
  9. Before continuing with the head rails I built and installed the bowsprit so I would not have the rails in the way when lashing it down.
  10. I have been working on the head rails. The drawing showing the lower knee made a good pattern and fit nicely. The upper knee drawing did not make a very good pattern so I divided it into three pieces using the drawing for the end pieces and used some modeling clay to form the middle section. I carefully removed the clay and traced the outline on a paper pattern after some trimming the center section fit.
  11. This is a few pictures of the quarter deck galleries. I had a lot of trouble with the carvings they looked so bad I went with a simpler design.
  12. Hi Brian, Thanks I will be adding four cannons to the starboard side. I added a set of stairs where the fifth one should be that also messed up the location for the boarding stairs. I am moving them between the third and fourth cannons. One small change can affect a lot of other things. Mike
  13. This set of phots shows the gun port wreaths installation. I decided to postpone the frieze and other decorations until the hull is complete.
  14. Brian I like the way you did your frieze and will try to do mine similar to yours.
  15. This is a few more photos of the planking she is starting to look like a Carnival cruise ship. LOL
