My name is Marcel(53) and live in Zoetermeer, Holland. Started a Year ago with building the “Le Camaret” as a test. Now I’m sure this will be my favorite hobby.

At the moment I’am half way with a model called the “Groene Draeck”. In Holland still active and owned by the Royal family.

Great to see and learn in this forum. I hope to receive my new adventure soon the “Sovereign of the Seas” by Sergal.

Sofar my short introduction. Hope to post some pictures soon.

Gidday Marcel and a warm welcome from the Land Downuder.

It appears you have also been bitten by the Modelling bug.

I would appreciate some pictures of your Groene Draeck, if possible.

There  is a lot of support and encouragement here.

Don't be afraid to ask questions.

All the best with your build.

Mark.

Hi Marcel,

Welcome to MSW!

Is your Groene Draeck a kit, or based on a drawing?

HI Jan,

De Groene Draeck is from a kit. I think from the 80ties. More info folow soon.

Welcome to this site. My mother's mother met Kaiser Wilhelm II and she says he mentioned she was a 'pretty little girl'. So royalty has some of the most beautiful works of naval archetecture.

The Groene Draak was a wedding present from the Dutch people to Prinses Beatrix and Prins Claus.

Not a very 'royal design', on the contrary, it was based on the rather common flat bottomed working ships there used to be.
