more accurate , for this period , mast and top mast connection made by garlands, means connection made permanent ,at least is not supposed to be fast lowering as in later period ,when top rope was implemented / and mast cap looks specific shape ... it should looks like this

Good day Tomasz,

Have question , for what there is one more running end of the tie halliard , as seems on the foto there are two? but tie halliard is a single rope ...

Knight with 4 sheeves may be  correct - on Your model mast cap is continental form/type (which is not correct for this ship, but choozen by kit maker as I understood)) but not in english style as it should be/it should be like a half brick ... and such shape and method of connection mast and top mast (moveable)suppose the top mast could be lowered ... in such case , 4 sheeves in the knight quite reasonable...4th sheeve could be used for top rope...

Yes you are completely right,  but i know all my mistakes and almost all parts of it that they are not right , so if i want them to be fixed then i will have to take almost  all of it including masts and boards yet even decking.

So i get to the point when asking myself can i really do this without giving up to soon on this ship ?

So i am not sure i should go for that.

If i fix one then i will go for another and another and so on ,till bulkheads 😅🤣 and never finish it😥

If I may offer my two cents so to speak, in the end, you're the builder, the Captain, the quality control officer, and it becomes a matter of what is acceptable to you. Those viewing your model will never know what mistakes you made, what you corrected, what is historically correct. What you will take away is what you learned and what you will apply to the next one. That "Holy Grail" of perfection will always be there to seek. I know! I have followed it many years on so many things I have built!

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi All 👋.

Since last post been experimenting with sails (just didn't like the kit ones -too thick and  bad looking sewing imo)

Wasn't sure i want them😕 cuz i don't have sewing machine,

hand sewing ? Hmm tried , is not for me 😅

So i took cloth double the size of a sail and mark exactly half on it then stained one of them

Next pulled stained strand through .

they looks not bad i think-not perfect but i am happy with , i will add rope on every edge later after shaping them and some more details on them but not sure yet what kind of🤔

not 100%sure how they should looks like...

Hi All 👋

Because Occre rigging diagram is kind of strange i think i am trying to solve the bowsprit rigging , have searched hundreds of pictures and plans also from books and all i found it should be something like this if all sources are not wrong.

If someone can look at this and tell me i can do it like that?

And spritsail - nothing glued yet

Apologies if that was explained somewhere already, spend a week on searching and sti not sure 🤔

Good day,

Dear Tomasz,

I meant Eugen Troppmann reconstruction based on Raymond Aker GH reconstruction...

Or You could use rigging plan from book "Mayflower and other colonial vessel"

Or we could use Hoeckel/ Mondfeld rigging as variant...there are some minor differences from Eugen T. version of rigging

It is not clear from your pictures how You managed spritsail sling and You missed one block in the middle of the spritsail yard( seems You cancelled it by mistake), and one/ pair of it/ fitted on the bowsprit/ these two blocks will make spritsail halliard/ which is ness- ry for yard hoisting and lowering.

Pozition of the spritsail need to be moved to the aft, a little bit,

It need to be shifted behind fore stay lower deadeye-this will give ness-ry space for spritsail moving up and down using halliard...

For better understanding bowsprit rigging arrangement pls refer to relevant article in R.C.Anderson book...

Actualy this book contains almost 90% information ness-ry for galleon model rigging...

Maybe There is sence to add some belaying points for spritsail running rigging near the bowsprit area, where it penetrates trough bulkhead? Or before gammoning?
