Looking for certain kind of kit

Try to make a search here on the forum. I think I remember seeing some kit bash builds of the “black pearl”. I don’t think there is a kit. It is covered by copyright, and I think it would be very expensive, maybe even impossible to get a license to use it for a model kit.

I'm just starting my building hobby and working on my first build, HMS Beagle just trying to plan for the future. I dont have enough knowledge to manipulate a kit or do one from scratch. I think I'll just chalk it up as a hope down the road to get to that point eventually. Your build looks amazing though so I'll definitely keep it close for when that time comes.

Does the Zveza kit actually have Disney licensing?

As far as I know, it does (the box carries both the Disney and POTC logos). The only others I know of are the kits from Revell and Hachette ... and Legos, of course. All of the Chinese kits, e.g. ZHL, are unlicensed and therefore in violation of most everyone's IP laws (including Chinese IP law).

The Revell kit  is Outstanding   - not only in its quality but the  way it goes together  - I did a few modifications  to it  that not only  turned it from a good plastic kit  - but also a few of the mods where  a practical improvement   - strengthening the mast  by either putting wooden dowels inside  or by using wood  yard arms  - this helps to give them some strength  for when the ropes where added  (plastic  can bend you see).

Also the  shrouds  that the sailors used to get up to the crows nests  - a lot of plastic kits have these a pre cast plastic  -  I wanted to make my own using thread  and wood deadeyes,    then the deck  (once you do a wood kit with a wood deck  - you wont go back  as it is just such a lovely  medium to work with and adds that edge of realism.

Hope this helps   and a Warm Welcome.
