Hi everyone, I’m building the Caldercraft/Jotika HM Chatham Yacht.  The lower part of the hull is to be painted “off-white” per the instructions. The photo of the model on the packaging shows what can best be described as a “cream white”. I have some tamiya paints TS-27 “Matt white” and bottles xf-2 “flat white” and 2 small bottles of Matt white admiralty paints (AP111W) in my stock.   I’m at a loss as to whether these will be suitable and how they will behave on the walnut second planking.   Suggestions are most welcome as to what I can use to achieve the best results. Thanks, Scott

Hi Keith thanks, is there any specific brand/code you can recommend?

Belay that antique white. It's Folkart acrylic "vintage" white # 515

One comment on this particular paint and color.  I picked some up, along with Folkart "Cottage White" and "Wicker White".  At first I thought the "Vintage White" was rather yellow looking based on the bottle, but it looks quite good when painted on.

The white stuff used in the 1700’s was by no means a standard color.  It would have been mixed up in accordance with the ideas of the painter.  Ingredients such as tallow, sulphur, and white lead would have given different shades from batch to batch ranging from a very light grey to a tint of yellow.

Start with white and add grey, yellow, tan, etc. until it looks right.
