I am building a giant scale model of a KC-135R Stratotanker, specifically the last one ever made, for a friend of mine.

The main parts are being 3D-printed by another friend of mine who is an absolute guru at 3D printing.

The small parts will all be scratch built.

The refueler is a neat concept and at 1/32 scale makes for a very large scale model that is at a common scale enabling future expansion to depict the refueler refueling another aircraft in the future.

The fuselage measures 51” long:

It and the vertical stabilizer are both rough sanded.

I used max hold CA reinforced with bamboo kitchen skewers to join the two sections together.

I have been switching back and forth between the Oryol and this project.

Building:

1:200 Russian Battleship Oryol (Orel card kit)

1:64 HMS Revenge (Victory Models plans)

1:64 Cat Esther (17th Century Dutch Merchant Ships)

That's some big model, Phil. I have a few hours in these beasts, since we converted to them from F-4s. Job was OK, the operating locations were fun spots, usually.
