This was an abandoned kit for sale on EBay. It appears to have been abandoned after a planking attempt. As you can see from the pictures it has broken and missing parts. After a very low offer it was accepted. The kit arrived 2 days ago. After cataloging the contents it appears to have a broken false keel with a section missing. Most other parts are with the kit. The attempted planking will require some filling. The deck planking was done well but the color and vanish is atrocious. Any suggestions on correcting it short of sanding it down 1/32” and replanking it  will be highly appreciated. Since numerous Bluenose histories are on MSW I will only post the limited history that’s is on the front of the box.

I first started the repair of the false keel which went well. I used where the keel was punched out as a template and made a pattern which I glued to a piece of basswood. I then trimmed it on the disc sander and glued it to the broken part .

Correcting and finishing the planking progressed smoothly. The planking by the previous owner will need filling in some areas. I use Model Lite and modeling paste for fill before sanding.  I also fabricated a dry dock to hold the hull after planking.

When I look at the decking it drives me crazy. It appears to have a plastic coating. I plan on covering it with 0.5 x 4mm cherry decking.

Finally almost to the rigging stage. I think I am going to rig it with standing rigging vs sails. I feel that sails will take away from the deck detail. Any opinions would be appreciated.
